Are the record packs some dealers sell worth the price?

100 45s for £100 looks good on paper but I don't fancy 100 crap records for the money.

I'd be happy if there's at least 20 to 30 decent tunes in there.

Not bought any for a decade or so but I reckon I used to chuck 80% of the content when I used to buy them.

Used to be good value back in the 7ts Bostock records Bradford Market, then they opened a shop in York and there profits went up, large amounts of good quality canadian and US imports on Motown RCA ect

I got a pack of 50 recently and there got a few twin copies of Elgins, Jackie Wilson, nothing of great value most of the records I've seen selling in certain quarters for £5 to £10 I never paid for the pack it was given to me for Christmas and I don't think they would have paid a lot for them and I would not pay £100 for them. The records were already priced up to sell individual totaling up to approx £150 of (Boll@@ks)

I would not risk buying a pack these days as there are too many people in for the quick $ IMO

If you can transport yourself back 35ish years ago get a few from Soul Bowl (and a couple for me  )

thought about it myself recently , infact had the 1st pack of 300 of IL and yes worth the money,

I would very much doubt that you will find anything that's worth a lot but if it's stuff you like

go for it , always good for building a collection. I dont know what you have but there's a few on here

that have loads of Ric Tic/Golden World stuff at cheap prices , If you find any good deals let me know

sorry if i've waffled on but on the vino !

Cheers

I might take a punt on some from John Powney seeing as you can pick what type of sound you want.

It's to build my meagre collection which still only stands at around 200 originals (none over 50 quid) and around 100 pressings. (You should see my ska and reggae collection though  )

Won a couple of large packs on ebay 2 years ago, well worth the money.

one pack contained a mint copy of the "four invaders"- "standing in the doorway" on bray ( i prefer the b-side btw) book price £300, but i got this and 69 others for £169 inc p&p.

The ones i rated as below vg, and there was some, (although i grade strictly) i donated to the local Oxfam record shop. so we both made out of this.

Bought 100 70's and 80's 45's for fifty notes of Anglo American at the end of last year. Probably 25 records that were worth keeping. But it was good fun going through them all.

Sold the ones i did not want as a job lot on ebay and made half the money back.
