i believe there are two versions by marvin - slightly different, the second came out on a UK b side

i'm sure i'll get put right if this info is incorrect

Released 25th Sept 1969, as a demo. Apparently, he was employed as a roadie for the Supremes in LA.

There's also an issue which is a little tougher to find, but hey, I understand not everyone shares my fascination with stockers !

(back when this was a big indemander I remember the issue fetching half as much again as the demo, about right would you say ? anyone ?)

I too share your fascination and yep your about right with the price

Where as most people were playing Jimmy McFarland, Richard had the Marvin Gaye version. At the time he was the only person to have a dub of it. Came from an engineer at Motown, who I believe Rob Marriot's older brother found or maybe Rod Shard. Thats were most of the other un-released Motown tracks that got played late Wigan/Early Stafford came from.

I think that was the story, but someone on here may well be able to give more information.

As made clear by other ss members, this was always played originally by the artist's correct name, played as Jimmy Mcfarland and was never a covered up.

A sincere thanks Sonbert for the information regarding the RPR light blue issue .

Hats off to you, cause for 30 + years Ive owned a blue copy and always assumed this was the runt' of the litter and would not even reach the heats of "Crufts best in show". How wrong I was, but then I also got caught up in the Sky Disc - Timothy Wilson "I Must Love You" - "was - still is' saga"

What was the outcome on this or is the jury still out. .

Just off topic Jimmy McFarland did a cracking version of Blowing my mind to pieces along with the Tiaras which apparently is the first version recorded although unreleased...
