Wrongcrowd
Bobby Patterson I Get My Groove From You anybody seen any around Surprisingly, it's not an easy 45. I've seen far more copies of the 'rarer' version by Bobby Shannon on To-Mar. You might find it easier to get the LP, which if you don't know it, is outstanding.... 2 Link to comment Social source share
John Reed
If you get the LP, and also want the A-side of the single too (which isn't on the LP), the demo can be picked up for about a fiver. Link to comment Social source share
Kjw
I've got a copy - I don't think it's that easy to find, it's only the second copy I've had. Most copies seem to be the promos with 'What Goes Around' on both sides. Then again, I wouldn't class it as 'rare' - it goes for around £100. I guess most people prefer the Bobby Shannon version because it's more uptempo - are Bobby Patterson & Bobby Shannon the same person. I know Bobby Patterson also recorded as Bobby Story. Just wondered why you were asking - have you found a load of them Link to comment Social source share
John Reed
are Bobby Patterson & Bobby Shannon the same person. I know Bobby Patterson also recorded as Bobby Story. Just listented to them both and they don't sound the same person to me as IMO Bobby Shannon voice seems smoother and doesn't have the Texas twang that Bobby Patterson has, if you know what I mean....... even though Tomar is a Texan label. Then again I could be wrong.... According to the record this is release 11, I wonder if the previous 10 exist somewhere, or just fanciful numbering? A great and really nice guy and without doubt a prolific artiste.... ..with more than one US hit... You shouldn't underestimate the difficulty to find this 45 just beacuse it's on Paula...I doubt 40 will cut it.... Link to comment Social source share

Douglaschip
Great version of this song by Big Cheese All stars featuring Sharron Scott on an album called Prawns with an interesting album cover - well worth picking up for this track alone! John Benson
I would say yes, you still don't see them very often. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Douglaschip
Agree John - hardly ever seen one around - probably seen it 4 times in last 10 years. Adam 1 Link to comment Social source share
Still Diggin
The first copy of the Bobby patterson I had played incredibly poor and it looked mint, and I also seem to remember somebody else saying the same thing, perhaps a dodgy box that turned up, hopefully of which most have probably been trashed. Just thought I would mention it if some are looking to buy one. A lovely record though, and well worth a mention. Personally I prefer the Bobby patterson, but would not part with the 'Shannon' cut as the flip is half tidy. Andy 1 Link to comment Social source share

One of my favourite 45s, the snare sound is great and the groove is so understated but deadly. Knocks spots off Bobby Shannon in my view although Shannon has nice horns, I find it's a plodder compared to Patterson. 3 Link to comment Social source share
