If you were selling on UK ebay there used to be an option where for an extra 10p or something you could tick a box which enabled your listing to be seen on Ebay.com as well - I can't find this option now, does anyone know if it's still there, somewhere?

I haven't listed anything for sometime but I though if you shipped worldwide it was shown on all ebay sites?

I do, but it doesn't - if you put it on ebay.com it does, but if you put it on ebay.co.uk, you had to pay extra (years ago you didn't have to pay)

Ahh got you, I've always used .com for listing and viewing, saves the messing around using different sites...usually!

Pete,

It's on the second page where it says:

Maximise your listing's visibilitys.gifInternational site visibility eBay US and Canada(£0.05)

No it's not mate. I know where you mean. Perhaps it's because they are Buy It Now and not auction?

Recently when I go to ebay.com there's a pop up window asking me if I want to go to eBay US or eBay "Global Trading Portal". Maybe it has something to do with that?

Might sound daft but why not simply use .com? save you some money too if it shows everywhere when you ship worldwide??

I would just hope British sellers don't start using .com to sell hundreds and hundreds of uk pressings and boots..leave them on ebay uk please..pretty please:rolleyes:

Never thought of that  There are enough boots and pressings on .com though, one of reasons I can't really be arsed with ebay these days, trawling through all the crap!!

Well this lot are all originals but about 3 weeks back I did put a load of 70's pressings on ebay.com and got phenomenal sales on them to be honest. Yesterday I listed another 50 pressings but put them on co.uk and there are no bids. So from a sales point of view, .com seems to be the best option. In fact I don't know why I didn't put all of todays originals on com.

Thats what I don't understand Pete, why pay for an option, even though it is only a few pence when you can do it free on .com?

It's because of having to work out postage in dollars mate, a lot of people don't understand that I'm charging the same in dollars what I would be in pounds so they email asking what the postage REALLY is.

I think i was refering more to all these modern, brand new boots/carvers which completely clog up ebay uk.. ebay.com is bad enough with US sellers thinking ANY record from the 60's is northern soul without all that lot on top.

Oh yeah I agree with you, ebay.co.uk is just useless nowadays because of those.

It nowadays costs extra to have .com items show up on the .co.uk site. There's an "international visibility" box that you have to tick on the last page before submitting the listing. Very well worth it though. thumbsup.gif

like I said not listed for a long time so not sure. But I would have thought all collectors, dealers etc view and use .com so why bother with .co.uk? or any other ebay site for that matter.

Hi Pete

I have just checked my (Auction) listing ebay.co.uk, found it on the second page, where you finally sumbit Listing.

Cost 10p for US, Canada

You may be right, Could be because you have listed "Buy It Now".

Hi Pete

I posted up on here a few months ago 'Whats happened to UK Ebay' but few people seem interested at the time.

The gist of the post was that I couldn't see the point of UK Ebay anymore. It's stuffed full of very bad (Illegal) bootlegs and it's hard to find many reasonable originals. Those that are on there are at silly buy now prices or equally silly starting prices and guess what there don't sell. Ebay has no interest in clamping down on sellers of bootlegs here or in the US.

As for sales I only use .com as that gets the best response and prices. Put a few things on UK a while back, Uk Pop, very poor response. Put them on .com sold nearly all of them. I first put them on Uk thinking that would be where most of the buyers are, none of it.

I can't see why Ebay simply dosen't have a single global market place or the option of a single market place site for those that want to trade all over the world.

kin ell £10 to list Pete's 100 records on US and Canada?? Think the odd e-mail about postage costs is worth it considering what you will save, especially if like some you list quite a few records. There's no wonder many not bothering with ebay anymore, seems like they want to milk everything from your sale!!

also is it just me or can you no longer start a new line in your description? I have to do one big long listing, as if the return key doesn't work looks like crap. Also the picture editor was gone, pretty handy for last minute fixes.
