Intermediate All-Dayer Tuition (10:30 - March 13th, 2010) Intermediate al-dayer tuition course. Great for anyone who has previously completed a beginners all-dayer or who has a little dance experience in northern.

WHERE?? We should go! F--king hell, she now determines whos intermediate and advanced!laugh.gif

'I found some of the moves quite hard to master but I persevered and got there in the end. The spins made me dizzy but I loved it. Sharon is great and I am not just saying that! Sharon thank you for taking the fear out of dancing for me.(NP, Halifax, Beginners All-Dayer)'

You just have to weep! There will be lots (maybe 10 or 11laugh.gif ) of Sharon clones at this years NORTHERN SOUL events.

True.

Today I am clad in slimfit chino's, Panama Jack basic brown 'Chukka Boots' dark blue Smedley turtle neck sweater, and when popping out to Morrisons, I topped it off with a navy blue Baracuta G9 Harrington. A classic, cool look that never dates, and looks as good today as it did on Steve McQueen in "The Thomas Crown Affair." The problem I have with the Baggie/Circle skirt look, is that it doesn't stand the test of time. Fine when the women wearing circle skirt, ankle socks, vest etc were in their teens/twenties, but today with wearers in their 40's/50's- its like seeing your Gran in a school uniform! Very disturbing!

P.S. for anyone who hasn't checked 'em out, Panama Jack's made in Spain, are a cracking pair of boots!

this thread is fantastic :laugh: today i'll mostly be wearing green

I have been known to swing my tassles at the odd Soul night!

On my wedding day, i have told Ian my partner that i will be dressed as Betty Page, i love the Burlesque thing!

Perhaps that's another reason i like the circle skirts.........i like a tight pulled in waist & when you spin, you flash your knickers! :D

Look lets put this to bed.....Sharon is just a tacky CD reissue.Trickster is a second issue of Keb Darge which has been licensed officially by Keb ....heres the truth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dIISugkH0o

Now Paul Sadot warned me about boots from Japan. They are hard to differentiate from the Keb original. The Keb original has a Hawaii shirt designs and jean turnups as does the Trickster second issue. These boots from Japan havent even got the hawaiian shirt logo or jean turnups.

And finally a limited run of a Japanese one off press with Hawaiian shirt design.....very rare

Anybody got the Hawaiian shirt issue?

Not unlike Wearing a Gimp Mask, Felching and Flagellation, some things including learning to dance, are best kept in ones bedroom...

and that old pikester is what most of us really wanted to say from the start:rolleyes: But we were either too shy or too unimaginative to say the words:wicked:

Well, I for one am pleased this lady has started the Dance Classesthumbsup.gif

I have booked SteveL and KevH on a crash course of lessons for my latest DVD only Movie

Its a sequel to my No1 bestselling DVD

Da da da da.....da da da da da da ooooooaaahhhhh.....you can tell the one on the right was an original wigan goer as his trousers have been pulled up so he can wade thru the piss in the bogs. Pikeys dog has summed it up. Keep it in the bedroom and the front room when ya mams out.Never been to Japan but it is worrying that theres a nation of Keb clones out there.

Yes, I thought that too, until I saw the reference to "Little Britain" in the title of the threadg.gif. The relevance of the other discussion about the "retro soulie scene" then became clear.

Indeed, it could be argued that the two discussions are linked by their focus on caricatures of northern soulthumbsup.gif

Surely its called 'Shawiins Northern Soul Dance Academy' or WiiGan Casino or Wiistanley .... It makes sense coz in the vitual world Wankstanley has never stopped trying to make a living of what was virtulally just a brief period in the scenes history. In fact what does he do for a job?

Posted

but what a brief period it was Paul - 8 years ,....all this time later and people STILL talking about it.......

i think russ is still a dj locally as well as getting bookings all over the UK ..

Has he ever had a proper job or has he been dining out on Wigan for 35 years.? Never knew there was such a big demand for bootleg dj's in the uk. Certainly changed since the Wigan days then? A dj would have been thrown of the stage for playing boots.

Theres a Russell brand joke that he did at NME awards event responding to Bob (the liger) Geldof....it reminds me of WINSTANLEY. Think of RW as Bob Geldof in this vid and listen to Brands final response and replace with 'Dining out for past 30 years on Wigan'

hi paul,,maybe his popularity will wane eventually..,.sadly i think ure stuck with the fact he started the venue that everyone still keeps talking about 35 years on..rightly or wrongly as that may be..

ps i found something the other day ,,2 orange pieces of paper with questions about Wigan which i asked him about .was about a year before his book came out.... soul survivors

Mark I think you have to be a bit more honest about this.........Russ is a one man publicity machine that keeps talking about WC and nothing else. The rest of us don't, unless Russ is promoting some candle lit vigil up Station Road or an allnighter in a station waiting room or whatever, when we all get dragged in to discussing it. Sure it was an important part in the scene's history we all know that, but everyone else has moved on. Everyone. Russ is like someone who has never been able to overcome his grieiving at the passing of the Casino. And let's face it if he was interested in soul music he could have tried to have a life on the scene post Wigan. I mean he could have attended venues ,or carved out a living as a part time DJ - gone to Soul Bowl, Manship, Raistrick, Brady, Butch etc. and tried to get some decent original records to play - couldn't he? Really?

Right, I am off for some dancing lessons, I feel I need them; I may be gone sometime laugh.gif

steve

its not russ on here who keeps posting about wigan,,ive cut down personally

i do get what you mean and i do hear what ure saying about him and agree to alot of extent..however

  • the guy needs to make a living - who are we to say how he does this
  • he did begin the casino allniters
  • i suggest he was the driving force on keeping them going
  • without him alot of djs wouldnt have got the break they got (also worked the other way round)
  • he played alot of records at wigan - alot good some not so good
  • if wigan was so bad why are we still talking about it?
  • if russ was so bad why do people still go and see him - talk to him,,ask to sign books etc
  • like an old pop star - he is going to have fans who remember the old days with happiness
  • he does have originals as ive seen them when i dj'ed with him,hes not the only dj who djs with bootlegs!
  • hs time was in the wigan era, i accept that and its up to him what he does going forward

by the way im not his agent honestly!!!
