Cheers Richard Hi Richard, Legit reissue companies (including Ace and at least two others I've worked for previously) have been trying for years to license the Fortune group of labels, but the owner - who is the son of the husband and wife who started Fortune in the 50s - is a couple of rarities short of a hotbox when it comes to business. Unfortunately the catalogue's worth to the likes of Ace is diminishing by the year, as the prime content of its catalogue gradually disappears into the public domain and the OOC boys get stuck into it - as they did about 15 years ago, when an extensive series of Canadian bootleg CDs appeared on the (genuine) Regency label, by the likes of Nolan Strong, Nathaniel Mayer, the Royal Jokers, Dr. Ross and loads more. They're all in 'from mastertape' sound, too - which would suggest a bit of 'insider involvement' somewhere along the line... 15 years is a long time, and I haven't seen any of these around at rock 'n' roll record fairs in ages. But they're out there somewhere I guess...

Mick Howard Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Richard Consulted Craig Butler who's into those labels and he doesn't know of any other CD's in addition to those on Regency that Tony referenced, but went on to say that Relic Records put out some great vinyl LP's in the 80's although most of those may now be out of stock. Mick Some great LP`s indeed but none about Hi Q and Fortune alone. The Detroit -related comps covered Chex, Lupine and some mixed stuff from labels such Flick, Kudo etc.

She said "she would only sell if she was offered the same amount as this other Detroit label"...she was talking about Motown

Most if not all of them seem to be available, quite cheaply, from a variety of sellers on amazon.com, who presumably don't realise that they are boots (amazon.com that is, not the sellers - who may well know and just don't want to own up to it...)
