Dave Thorley Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Hi All Just want to big up my local station it gives you what few others do, a daily soul show, plus great weekly shows. Jerry (Hippo) Hipkis can be found every morning between 8am and 11am playing the finest in soul, northern, jazz funk, soulful house and reggae everyday. He does a nice nine after nine, northern show case and with his knowledge it's always interesting. On the weekly side you can find Leon Brown, giving you 'The best of Northern' every wednesday evening 7pm-9pm. JJ Watkins disco and club classics saturday 12noon-2pm Donavan Smith cool soulful house sunday 4pm-6pm The station is a community radio set up and has worked hard to become a powerhouse in the Gloucester area. https://www.gloucesterfm.com/index.html Anyone else got any good local station we should be checking out

Soulfreak Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) Danny Duggan, who runs 'Sleepless Nights', the monthly Northern Soul night in Dublin, also does a weekly soul show on local community radio station Dublin City FM. The show is called 'The Soul Kitchen' and goes out every Saturday from 6.00pm to 7.30pm. It's a nice mix of across the board soul music and from time to time Danny invites DJ's who are in Dublin to guest DJ at 'Sleepless Nights' to come on the show and spin their favourite soul records... You can pick it up on 103.2 fm in the greater Dublin area as well as online here https://dublincityfm.ie/ Well worth tuning into.... Martin. Edited February 10, 2010 by Soulfreak

He's gotta play fairly obvious stuff for the mainstream punters (if it ain't broke, don't fix it), but he does throw in one or two most days when I think wow I ain't heard that for ages or occassionally "what is that?". Recommend it - "Gloucesterfm.com" - 9 to 9.30am. Go on Jerry!

Guest Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Radio Sheffield - Steve White - "Northern Soul & Motown" Every Wednesday 19:00-22:00 hours - you can get this live too from the internet. Guest DJ's - John Kane was on last last week playing modern too. Think John Kane on once a month for an hour, remainder of schedule is a sprinkling of modern choons only Gotta agree tho its a brill show and format is simple, hand it over to the listener "win win" situation Wach out or should that be listen out for redroad fm making noises in late March. Sunday evening soul show used to be gr8, now I wonder if the same guys will be presenting?
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 The only local shows here for soul is 1. BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Tueaday 6.00 - 7.00 with Ian Gray and he has a mix of mostly Northern Soul and Motown and the odd modern and general soul. some weeks there are guests for about 15 mins and he also has a 15 min segment on picking tunes with a connection ie songs about kings and queens or with the word blue. 2. Corby community radio on Saturday nights have from 6.00 - 8.00 Andy Barnes soul show and he plays across the board soul from 60's - now. both can be heard online and requests can be done
Mike Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 radio guide on here is picking up plans to feature it more in near future https://www.soul-source.co.uk/index.php?app=calendar&module=calendar&cal_id=3&m=&y=
