Hello all!

I am planning a trip to the Big Apple in 2011 (long time off I know), and have heard on the grapevine that there is a Northern Soul Allnighter at some point in New York.

The trip is going to be a present for my fella's 40th, we are going for the vintage shops, and to view a few sites but it would be great if we could tie in a Northern or Motown night whilst out there.

I would really appreciate any help or info- if there is such a thing in New York.

Many thanks,

Bec

Check out events section - dig deeper is the name of the club, not sure if it a nighter though but they have artists on.

Planning something similar later this year hopefully. I think its usually the last friday of the month but theres nothing planned definately that far in advance. Honky is the guy who runs it, you could PM him for details.

THE SUBWAY SOUL CLUB

Dance all night to up beat 60's northern soul, motown and organ grooves spun by Phast Phreddie The Boogaloo Omnibus and special guests. British, mod hostess Lady Dawn welcomes you to our new venue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Our new space is designed for dancing is a big white room with a WOODEN FLOOR and A BAR with a mirror ball and groovy projections on the wall and yes, air conditioning!

We even have our own 'hole in the wall' entrance, so no more issues with disinterested bystanders blocking our precious dance floor.

Because its not a public bar, we are having to charge a small cover. of $6

The entrance is an unmarked door between Public Assembly and Williamsburg Hall of Music. You wouldn't know it was a club! Look for the Subway soul poster on the door and just head up the stairs.

Hi Bec - We do our Dig Deeper night on the 4th Saturday of the month typically, but usually don't book the night until a few months out - Michael and I do this in our spare time, so can't get things planned more than a few months out. We are just about to announce our March and April nights for 2010. 2011 is a long ways off! We plan to continue doing a larger 2-night soul festival at the end of summer with multiple artists - last year's one was with Otis Clay, Maxine Brown, Barbara Lynn, Roscoe Robinson, and Hermon Hitson... At that event, we had a number of great vintage shops who sold at our record & vintage fair at the festival - hope to do the same thing in the future.

You can hear some recordings of our last night in January with Darrow Fletcher up on our myspace page, as well as a few recordings from last October's show with Walter & the Admeration's / the Green Berets. Just be sure to stop the second player farther down the page which is currently broadcasting Tami Lynn (who is playing our February night). That should give you a flavor of what goes on at Dig Deeper - in addition to the live performance, we also DJ before and after. Here's the link:

Hope your trip will coincide with one of our nights! Cheers,

- Richard / DJ Honky
