Weingarden Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Well, I have a copy. I've never seen another one. Has someone been playing it? I think it's great blue-eyed soul, and I wouldn't sell it.

Guest Perry Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Got a copy of another 45 by them on Destination "Break down & Cry".

KevH Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 Got a copy of another 45 by them on Destination "Break down & Cry". Its the other release i'm interested in Perry.Apparently they only put 2 out on Destination .
Weingarden Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Kev: It's Kane, not Cain. And I'm 99 percent certain it's a white act. I played it on the radio here: https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/33798

Souljer6 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Not Anna Craig's Life of the Party on Decca?
boba Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Well, I have a copy. I've never seen another one. Has someone been playing it? I think it's great blue-eyed soul, and I wouldn't sell it. one went through cheap on ebay within the last year, I don't have it but i noticed it searching another user's ebay purchases. i didn't know there was a second one, one of those things where i didn't even click on a record by "kane and able" because I didn't know there was one I didn't have.
KevH Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 Not Anna Craig's Life of the Party on Decca? No not a version of it.AC is the typical 60's beat ballad ,whereas K&A is uptempo late 60's early 70's to my ears.I really like !!!! As Weingarden as already said,,its on his show, also on the May 22 2009 show at 44.44mins in.
Sebastian Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 K&A is uptempo late 60's early 70's to my ears.I really like !!!! Both of their DESTINATION label 45s are from 1965. Same label as The Cryan Shames hit "Sugar And Spice" by the way.
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 They're not white, they're latino - their names were Artie Herrera and Al Herrera. Jimmy Holvay and Gary Beisber (both later of the Mob of "I Dig Everything About You" fame) were involved in their discovery and the writing and producing of their 45s. The Herrera's were also later in the Mob, in fact 'Little Al' wasthat group's lead singer and it's he who can be heard on "I Dig..." "Break Down and Cry" on Destination is more or less the same record as "He'll Break Your Heart" by K&A on Red Bird. One of the best RighteousBrothersAlikes ever, IMO...

Yes, I believe so, I think they're on all of the Mob's records right through the 60s and 70s. Forgot to mention earlier that the same surnames were not a coincidence, they were brothers - which I guess, is where the Kane and Abel bit comes in!
