theres always 1 congratulations its you.

If you read the two posts before mine, then you would understand.............they were talking about Dave's number twos..............then the next post was about a stink hence the shit connection ,nothing to do with your thread...............it was a simple jest, a mere play on words ,an attempt to add a little jocularity,a pinch of humour even....................................

Thank you for your Congratulations

Steve

Well, I understood that you had merely followed through, so to speak.

I think he played The Majestics - "I Love Her So Much It Hurts" as some sort of 'revived sound' although I recall it was new to most of my contemporaries.

There is a story behind this record at Wigan, Dave was mates with us Mansfield boys and in particular Rob & Chris Marriott

Chris told Dave to "Get this F***er played Dave, it will be massive" and he sold him a copy on Linda for about £6-Dave played it in his "oldies" spots when in fact it hadn't had air time before--the rest , as they say , is history.

George Benson "On Broadway" massive Wigan spin for Evo late 1977/early 1978--I must have sold 30 copies in the record bar at £3 a time UK warner Bros--they were all over the place in Notts & S Yorks at 20p a throw. They kept me a float during a 6 week period when I was unemployed prior to statrting on the railway !!:D

Sure DE used to always spin 'Find A Quiet Place' quite a lot too, Olympics - the same old thing, & Jackie Lee - Shotgun & The Duck also spring to mind

He guested at Bisley last year and I asked him to play 'Same old thing' but he did not have it.thumbsup.gif

I remember finally picking up a copy of the Clyde McPhatter lp "Welcome home" at Wigan, had been after "Please give me one more chance" for years, gave it Dave to play, and he played the wrong track off the l.p. :hatsoff2:

this was massive at the time for him, great memories.... D.D. Sharp "What kind of lady"....

I remember Dave Evison taking a record off midway through at WC and saying " that's the last time I play something I haven't heard before" It was a Gladys Knight tune I think and it cleared the floor and he had been persuaded to play it by one of the punters. Can't remember what it was now but it wasn't too bad I recall.

Cheers
