The overcharging for records by some sellers on here.

Not aimed at you Pete, but pointless thread unless someone really posts examples of overcharged records to discuss.

I know, but I'm not allowed to, was just hoping it might make people look twice thats all.

All those tunes are reserved for me..... I was tooo tight to pay more than $ 60 on ebay for a tune just a few hours ago!!! Now, as I want this tune sooo bad I'll pay way over the odds (£ 100) for it probably from the same guy who snapped it up just before me!!!:lol::thumbsup::lol:

A certain tune didn't sell on here and my offer was knocked back and the tune taken to ebay. Been re listed 3 times on ebay now.

Now someone else is trying to sell it on here for more then it's up on ebay for. Weird.

Theres one on here in VG+ for £225, I've got the same record in Mint and I wasn't sure whether to ask £150 or £175!

Oh, and a record I sell for £20 and have done a dozen times, usually for less, is on here at £100.

Are you refering to people who ask more than book? I don't see too many examples of that.

The books out on loads of stuff and is missing even more. I guess a seller should ask what 'he/she' thinks its worth. Its then up to the buyer to say yes or no. If its too high, it wont sell. Its a seller & buyers choice i guess.

I appreciate Pete's initial post because it is astonishing what some people ask for records. If they get the price good luck to them but some frankly common records now, always on EBay, lots on Gemm, Discogs etc., not in the past, are priced at what I presume are full book price, regardless of condition. I don't have 1 Price guide on the premises but I know how often I see or find a record and what I paid for any copy I have. I am also becoming more and more wary of buying records on line or on SS as the condition of some of the stuff I receive is way off the mark to say the least. There is a simple Marketing rule that to succeed you must under promise and over deliver. If you do the opposite you will fail!

I think it was raised in another post about buying off people you trust and the sooner we get some proper feedback system the better. Everyone can knock the EBay system but at least it is a guage of what you might expect. All we have to do is fix the negative feedback options that EBay use. Please excuse the 'red mist' moments from the discussion, we've all had those, at least I have. As for the EBay lottery, sold a fairly obscure UK item for $83 in December, thought I'd done good, followed by a big up from Scandanavia, not my copy, with a worse soundfile, went for $550! Also the singers other UK only release it far far superior! Go figure! Anybody looked at my 12" list from a couple of hours ago, bargains! It's still fun, Ady

There's one regular seller on Soul Source who always asks for M- book prices even tho the discs are VG+/EX only. Don't know if he ever sells anything on here?

yep your right pete but it also happens on ebay,my theory is that they some times dont realy want to sell so just make the price way to high for one reason or another or been pressurised by there second half and tell them it didnt sell, sure thats been done.thumbup.gif
