Guest Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) Seeing the yellow Stax issue of 'There's gonna be a showdown' on PAT BRADY'S site today, made me wonder - which is the first release, that or the light green Gospel Truth issue? Was there also a british release or was that limited to IAN D'S 'Stax Northern Disco Sounds' album way back then.... Edited January 21, 2010 by chorleysoul
Cunnie Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Moved this to the correct forum. Can confirm that there is a yellow Stax 7" UK release as well. Great version

Yeah, you are right of course mate, it is a UK release, the missing centre threw me and I did not bother looking at the enlarged image. That is what confused me in the first place, have loved that record since I was a young teenager and would have sworn dead it only came out on Gospel Truth US, which is of course a Stax subsidary anyway.
Sebastian Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 would have sworn dead it only came out on Gospel Truth US You're ofcourse right, but I just want to mention that it did get a late 70s reissue on the red US Stax label (STAX 1037) so that people don't buy the reissue by mistake. Fantastic tune in any case!
Guest Polyvelts Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Unbelievable flip too ! 'That will be good enough for me' Rance doing his usual falsetto gymnastics on this James Cleveland classic. Did anyone here catch him when he played in Dublin a few years back ? Would love to hear about that !
KevH Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I am alone in thinking the Uk release is very drum heavy?.It seems to drown out the backing at times.Great version btw.
