Here's another; 1028 Eddie Johnson - I Lost, My Linda/ Mis-ter Night.

Mis-ter Night is a stunning deep soul tune!

As Kev said owned by James Chavis.

His publishing company was named after the street on which he lived, Vandever, until a few years ago.

My last contact, with his son, about 2 years ago revealed that James was still around and living in a retirement home aged 92.

When I'd spoken to James previously he wasn't that interested in discussing the old days

this one is to be precise Silas Phifer and the Mellow Fellows and Edwin Johnson & The Mellow Fellows. They are the Mello Souls. Not a great record mind, either side. Sound clips are in refosoul.

There's also two garage 45s by the State Of Mind on Chavis, and a garage 45 by the Tree on Barvis, all of which were found in quantity around 1980. I can provide the details if needed. I was told Barvis was the Gospel label, how a garage 45 about a 'big fat ugly woman' got on the label is a mystery....
