Guest vince peach Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Have a Maxine Brown Lp on spin-o-rame titled Maxine Brown, the flip side is a singer called Margie Anderson who i have never heard of, the last track on the Margie Anderson side is a nice male vocal on a track called "follow that girl" it sounds a bit like Johnny Nash but is'nt theres no credits on the lp and there are no female parts on follow that girl. The Lp I would say is fairly early as all the Maxine Brown tracks are from 1960-1 and the Margie Anderson tracks sound as if there from the same period. What I would like to know is who is the male singer and is the track on a 45. Vince
Kris Holmes Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 i think i have/had this LP & know what you're on about. I think it might be a repackaging of another budget LP where the male singer is actually credited. I'll see if I still have it.
Sebastian Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 the last track on the Margie Anderson side is a nice male vocal on a track called "follow that girl" it sounds a bit like Johnny Nash but is'nt Vinnie Monte on JUBILEE 5403 from 1961? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLTIHY5sIHQ
Kris Holmes Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 ok, i have this on two LPs. Maxine Brown on Spin-O-Rama, JoAnn Campbell on Coronet & have a Margie Anderson LP on Grand Prix as well. No credits though unfortunately. nice song. could be anyone the way those 60s budget labels licensed/released tracks I have definitely wondered about this before too.
Kris Holmes Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Vinnie Monte on JUBILEE 5403 from 1961? https://www.youtube.c...h?v=RLTIHY5sIHQ no, absolutely nothing like it. just piano & voice & way slower, totally different song.
Kris Holmes Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 This one i can't see that pic so don't know what you're on about....
Kris Holmes Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Charlie Francis - Heart Follow That Girl, not on 45. But apparently on a slew of Pickwick related budget LPs from the early 60s. He has other tracks on the Screamin Jay Hawkins/Lillian Briggs/Kay Starr/Charlie Francis LP on Coronet, all are just piano & voice demos.
