Ted Massey Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 2nd side has the same backing as that god awful Dottie and Millie on Topper
Ezzie Brown Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 2nd side has the same backing as that god awful Dottie and Millie on Topper yep true ted...........ive never heard it before..........dont do it for me, sorry........ezzie
Mick Howard Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 2nd side has the same backing as that god awful Dottie and Millie on Topper Does sound like a Detroit thing rather than Chicago & yes it does have that Topper feel. Vocal sounds familiar but can't place it..... M
Weingarden Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) Ha, the guitar and piano and even the sax when he takes a solo seem to be playing "Shotgun"! You sure this was released? Sounds like an outtake. An acetate, maybe? Edited January 14, 2010 by weingarden
Guest soulalligator Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Here is a picture of the label, it has a trace of AC REED -BOOGALOO TRAMP label print on both sides, it might be from the same record plan, that's why i assumed it was from CHICAGO, i had 2 copies together and both have the same thing printed on the label, both sides have the Nike label, again run groove says 105-A DRC-45. thanks for your previous replies.
grant Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 quite like that one.....voice sounds familiar too
Dave Pinch Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 definately sounds like a topper 45 from 1966 could well be monique on maurci doing the vocal dave
Benji Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) interesting one. flip side certainly sam backing as dottie & millie on topper. a side backing reminds me of tobi lark - talkin' about love on topper. I agree with grant, voice sounds familiar. I'd say it's rather tobi lark than monique if it's one of them. i take it it's a proper press, i.e. no acetate? Edited January 15, 2010 by Benji
Prophonics 2029 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I would say Monique, funny how clear the music is compared to the Maurci release but the second side has all that singing in the background like Kent's Little - Ann Sweep It Out release has.
