Guest in town Mikey Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Is there any non-sinister reason for using private feedback on ebay that anyone can think of? ta link Funny you should ask that Dan. I've just sent two 'final demands' to guys I've bought stuff from in the States. Both I have bought items off previously, and both have failed to send the items this time. Its over a month, and I have sent emails thru Ebay three times previously. If they dont reply by this evening i am going to have to try to get Paypal to get my money back (around $100) One guy was sending me private emails trying to sell related items, but I had to decline. Good job if he isnt going to send me the items anyway. Now I am worried that they are going to give me negative feedback, and I only have a 25 count. All positive. So 4 negatives added to that will look terrible. I was wondering if maybe I should adopt the private feedback approach.
Lazy Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 (edited) some peolple will use private feedback that no one can see how much money they spend on records :-) Edited July 20, 2005 by Lazy

SteveM Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 some peolple will use private feedback that no one can see how much money they spend on records :-) link Thats particularly true of two big buyers off John Manships auctions
Lazy Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 thing is mike that wouldn't hide your negatives percentage wise, would it? link you're right, you will always see that the ebay member got negative feedbacks. You can not see the auction details !

The guy probaby realised he could get 2p per 100 patterns One was a chain stick cardi too, in a Vogue categlogue, numbered 1 of 10,000 double

Guest rachel Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 If someone has private feedback, can't you still see what they've been buying by using the 'search by bidder' thing...? I dunno....

Guest Gogse Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 While on the subject of ebay. This morning I received this email from a friend.... All, I’ve just received a spoof email from ‘ebay’ that provides a link to sign in and also sent my full credit card details. The process is obviously a con since it also requests PIN numbers for an ATM machine. The email is titled IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM EBAY INC BILLING DEPARTMENT Watch out for these emails…ebay support state that there are a lot of them circulating at present. Regards, Just a heads up.
Guest Kolla Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Just wondering if anyone has had a winning bidder that hasn't paid and if so what did you do. Someone won one of my items 7 days ago and has made no contact with me whatsoever (they have a feedback of 3) and I've sent them 3 emails inc. the invoice. Should I send it straight to eBay's Payment Dispute or wait a while?

Someone won one of my items 7 days ago and has made no contact with me whatsoever (they have a feedback of 3) and I've sent them 3 emails inc. the invoice. Should I send it straight to eBay's Payment Dispute or wait a while? link I won Morris Jefferson on ebay about a year ago, paid instantly and heard nothing for a month. The seller finally replied after I sent him shitty direct emails saying his mother was sick and would forward the 45. A month later still no 45. I informed ebay who said if I sent a negative feedback it would go against me!! .. After another month I was told it was too late to persue the matter as I had left it for 3 months!....I found out the sellers address and said I would be 'popping' in to pick up MY 45, he replied and said he couldnt find the 45 but was sure he had another around somewhere!...I told him to keep the record (£10 worth by the way) and repay me via paypal.....3 months on I'm still waiting!!!

Should I send it straight to eBay's Payment Dispute or wait a while? link Kolla - my advice is to give it 10 days after your auctions close. As you've sent them 3 emails already, I would then instigate the Unpaid Item Dispute through Ebay. This way, you'll be able to claim your Final Value Fees if your buyer fails to pay up. Then, block them from bidding on any future auctions! Gene Edited July 22, 2005 by Gene-R
Guest Kolla Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 still got about 25 records to be paid for from sales at the weekend! link 25??? Why do people do this If they want the item they should friggin' pay for it as soon as the auction ends. I've already blocked people with no feedback and negative feedback - mighht have to extend it to people with less that 10 feedbacks or something. Off to whine to eBay now

It can be done if you go to their help screen. That mounts a bit more pressure on them to deliver the goods......

Guest in town Mikey Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 It does go to show tho. We can grumble about the prices some well known UK dealers charge, but at least you know, if you pay them the money, you will receive the item
