Guest chrislokeh Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Yeah, I can just see it, pints and pies with Reg - he'll be asking you if he can do a guest spot in Oxford Street next! What about him playing at Cleethorpes Weekender
Reg Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 What about him playing at Cleethorpes Weekender Elton at Cleethorpes, ha ha I think he's been on the wagon too long to risk that :-) That kind of reminds me (no offense Ady..) of that Vicar of Dibley episode
Ady Croasdell Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Yeah, I can just see it, pints and pies with Reg - he'll be asking you if he can do a guest spot in Oxford Street next! He'll have to do a tape first. He auditioned for the Mike Cotton Sound who were a very mod group and Mike said he was a good pianist but looked a bit square so he didn't get the gig.
francis t Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I have listened to the broadcast and found it interesting.Years ago when I was a student at Stockport College I deejayed with a mate before Elton John appeared as the live act.He was a great performer soul or otherwise. At the time we tried to persuade the artist booking commitee to book some soul acts rather than the long haired lot like Caravan , Principal Edwards etc--but they would not have it.(Actually some of the jazz rock acts were good- if I am allowed to say that -but a night of Geno Washington, Jimmy James or similar would have gone down well with me.) cheers francis t

Of course he later developed a more 'rounded' style....(Oh dear ) Edited January 5, 2010 by chorleysoul
