Dave Pinch Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 hi Dave i played it at an oldies night last month to not much response people forget but it did sound good it is a good record ted. we had the grey promo with the boys face on but sold or traded it years ago. might be time to reactivate it in the classics rooms. might be a good idea to keep it for a bit and play it ted coz rarity wise ive only seen 1 0r 2. its a dead 45 at the moment tho dave
Ted Massey Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 it is a good record ted. we had the grey promo with the boys face on but sold or traded it years ago. might be time to reactivate it in the classics rooms. might be a good idea to keep it for a bit and play it ted coz rarity wise ive only seen 1 0r 2. its a dead 45 at the moment tho dave think your right Dave give it a few spins and see
dthedrug Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 think your right Dave give it a few spins and see Hi Ted I really don't understand the issue of should I or shouldnt I play a record, especially a record that is sung soulfully has a classic beat and rhythm and the breaks at the right spot as mentioned to get the dancers moving and that is the problem as I see it as you may be aware I don't get about to much these days but if the scene has turned into some numbing mind bending conversation on the playing of a great classic and in its rarest example know wonder it is full of old age grumpy people and new blood does not attend when I first attended the dance hall scene every one looked old? in reality they were in there early 20s if I had hear ed soul sounds and gone in a club and the youngest person there worked behind the bar I don't think even the best tunes would keep me there? Now I am not saying we are to old far from it, what I am saying is that tunes such as the Leslie Uggams track filled the dance floor! here's a question when was the last time you went to a wedding function or a 18/21st Birthday as you will see all the girls dancing and singing the words to the Motown / soul spot that Dave double decks is spinning? if you need a reason or to justify (not you Ted) records to play it states one thing and that is well over 3/4 of the DJ should retire in the next few weeks and find younger keener people to DJ and let some other collectors have a chance this is why you are a good DJ as you have always been an avid collector Ted so you are the right man it,s those DJs who have fleeced the soul scene dry who walk around as if they were a personality and the scene belongs to them? as far as I can see these people will continue to dictate until we are all dead, so for all the DOGs out there who did not recognise my selection at least 95% of it and have a vinyl collection of under 1000 or you have DJ living on a reputation from the 7ts clubs Dave Kilworth says "MOVE OVER ROVER & LET NEW BLOOD TAKE OVER" all you Torch goers what if you turned up and the place was full of Chris Burtons, or at Wigan Gary Marshal tried to do a spin and a backdrop??? my suggestion is take a look at our black brothers and sisters young and old together and there's many a time I have seen younger kids still up and about gone 12 o clock so lets chill out if you have a tune and you think it should be played play it as for the older people I am referring to after 35 years you have been hoping those decks far to long and as I found out a few weeks ago Ted there is a geezer from Coventry who I feel with your support would love to make a go at doing a spot or two. he is knowledgeable but needs to be with a mentor such as yourself? I apologize if any one is offended but there is younger blood out there who are into Soul as the record goes "LOVE IS A GOOD FOUNDATION" clap! clap! by the way it is Scotty's fault as he thought I was Joking about New Years Eve even though a big head was there Billy Bullsh**er? Go on Ted play the record or give it to Dave & Louise with love from me DAVE(WHATS BILLYS NAME? "PUS" NO IT WILL COME TO ME)KIL
