Pete S Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Hi Chalky, I was expecting this to really take off last year, but despite a few plays it never really seemed to catch on. Brilliant record and deserves to get a lot more attention.....let's hope that 2010 sees it on a lot more playlists Been looking for one of these ever since you put the soundfile in the 60s thread Steve.....zero luck in finding one though . Great stuff . Couple from me that I've got high hopes for in 2010: Keith & Billie - Tastes Sour Don't It c/w If You Move You Lose - Piccadilly. UK only double sider that sounds the business out loud....thanks to Mr Fingers for giving me the tip on this. Jo Ann Garrett - What'cha Been Doing - Duo Love this, it's got the lot! Not unknown but def underplayed. Keith & Billie is the released version of that acetate by Barbara Jean English that came from the Jimmy Radcliffe archive. Irma Routen, words fail me, which is probably a good thing
Ged Parker Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Some belters to chase down guys thanks a lot. Couple from me all different in style: Alvin Christie - Devil Darlin - Viva - Went down a storm at last Keele cheepish but so hard to find Sonics - Find Myself Another Girl - Valmon - Brown eyed soul outta Texas Cheaters - Call a Cheater - Jolo - Quirky uptempo rip off of the Tony Hatch penned Call Me though with no credit given to him
Ezzie Brown Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 One for me that could go massive in any R&B room: Bobby Marchan - Funny Style - Dial Not unknown, but I'm amazed this is not a classic yet.. it's got everything, rhythm'n'soul perfection from '65! You should be able to find one for 30£ or less, give it a listen in the refosoul section! fab and cheap......but hard to find!!!!!!!!!!

Sean ....ooh, I'll join in, too I'd been trying to license 'Leave Something Worthwhile' and a few other cuts for a 45 from a 5 or 6 track CD I had from the producer around 2003 for about two years before eventually giving up as he didn't seem that bothered in the end and also didn't seem to know who or where Gene West was. The group name he had was Gene West and the Electric Word - now called The Relatives. Glad to see someone persisted and finally got the stuff out there - the other stuff sounds good. Hopefully they'll stick LSW on a nice loud 45 - lots of potential in that one
