Mal C Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 The Chambers Brothers - I Can't Stand It / ?? Great Recording and all that, but before I shell out on an LP, does anybody know whether it was LP Only, or did it get a 45 Release? And if so is this one of those occasions where the LP version is different?? Thanks in advance, Mal.C.

The 45 is I know of is on Columbia "I Can't Stand It / Please Don't Leave Me" The release # is 4-44080. I've never heard the album version so can't help with that bit. John Benson Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I've got that album on UK Direction. I seem to think the title track was on a Direction 45 - If so maybe it's on the other side? PS - I haven't a clue what the track sounds like, I haven't played that LP in over 25 years!
bri pinch Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 THINK DINAH WAS ON THE B SIDE OF TIME HAS COME TODAY ON UK DIRECTION BRI PINCH.
John Benson Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Think you may be right Bri There's a European on Gemm on CBS 3359 - maybe that's it? Bit pricey though! https://www.gemm.com/item/CHAMBERS--BROTHERS---d---LES/TIME--HAS--COME--TODAY/GML943985468/

I thought Munchkin said in post no 3 that the Columbia copy was a different cut? Surely that means Direction copies (if any) would be the same? But don't know for sure do I?
Reg Scott Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 The US Columbia release is attached, and as was mentioned above, it has a 'live' feel with that harmonica and in your face drums but is a studio cut. I'm not sure if the Action cut mentioned, the French Columbia release or the album version are different, but for me this version has the impact and immediacy required. Nice. Regards, Greg. Mal C Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Had chance to listen to these various versions now, I prefer the Live version, it has a count in intro, so 1,2, 3, 4, then Harmonica, sounds like loads of people in a small studio in fact you can hear their voices throughout... who knows which format that version came out on, cause I'm confused.. it is not the one Greg has posted above.. Dennisoul Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Kev is correct...both the USA 7inch issue and demo are the crap version...Its lp cut that you want.....Or as Kev said its on the Dutch 7inch release, but also look out for it on a USA 7 inch mini lp/ep..which plays at 33rpm. Thats the one that I picked up about 15 months ago....... Id had the lp for a while before and had tried to get it on 7 inch with the lp cut without any luck, until pickin up the...USA 7inch mini lp. Its a perfect replica of the "Time has come" lp...has 4 tracks including the lp cut of "I cant stand it".....I managed to pick up 2 copies for 10 dollars each. I dont have the use of a scanner to put a picture if it up, but its on Columbia Stereo Sevens label, perfect replica cover of the lp. With small juke box labels and cover pictures that would have been put onto the juke box......lovely item. Andy Edited December 31, 2009 by Dennisoul
Dennisoul Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Managed to do a photo of USA 7inch mini lp/ep
