Guest Nick Harrison Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 (edited) PROBABLY ONLY A TENNER OR SO...... JUST FINDIN ONE OF THE LITTLE BLIGHTERS. UK 45 ONLY I BELIEVE. BRI PINCH UK 45 - Warner Brothers Cat number W9642 edit version - taken from the 1983 "Sunfire LP" also released in the uk. "Step in the light" charted in 1983 but received little mainstream exposure. "Young Free and Single" reached greater uk chart fame also in 1983, with a appearance on TOTP. Young Free and Single was also released as a uk 45 and was lifted from the same lp - Sunfire. Forgotten which was released first of the 2 singles, but thanks for your ears. Good luck Nick H for your search for one of the better eighties soul dance records, than most that received uk releases during this period. Regards, Nick H. Edited December 23, 2009 by Nick Harrison

Some 27 years earlier ......................shocking.
Podge Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 Thanks guys for all the replies, what blinding tune for a tenner. Have always lurked on this site without posting but what a mistake ! You guys are massively helpful, been off the scene for too many years now but still love this music of ours. Does anyone have any recommendations for similar 70s/80's sounds ? Many Thanks, Nick

Guest Nick Harrison Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Used to have a clutch of these on 12's and LP's... sold em all after having a mid-life crisis about collecting 45's only... James Govan - Uphill Climb Just out of interest which format was this on, only remember seeing it and first purchasing it on the US label - Envelope 45.
Guest Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Thats the one...45 on Envelope...lovely shade of dog-turd brown if I remember....
Guest Nick Harrison Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Thats the one...45 on Envelope...lovely shade of dog-turd brown if I remember.... So 45 only ............................... not a real serious mid life crisis............................then . Sounds more like a case of the soul collector revisited, confusioned musically with a suffering release date identity. Shame really that the above 12's and Lps could not bless your collect still today. But then Arthur Adams, Invisible Man's, Rose Royce, Micheal Wycoff, Charles Sherrall and Gerald Mallory all had 7" single releases, should you ever wish to clutch these in your selected present day format. Sorry to revist and hi jack your original thread Nick H.
John Reed Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Leon Bryant's, Finders Keepers LP on De-Lite from 84. It too also gained a UK release. IMO one of the most consistent contemporary soul LP of the 80's

IMO one of the most consistent contemporary soul LP of the 80's Would agree with you John on the above LP, but without looking and on here without help and my own memory at this present moment.....................3 x 45's surfaced on De - Lite from this LP ?????? Mighty Body, Finders Keepers and I Can See Him Loving You. But talking of consistency John ......................................seen the cricket - England 2nd innings 570 all out - and now bowling at South Africa current score 51 runs for 6 wickets.................. ..........outstanding.

Sadly we cant see it here at work, as our maintenance company haven't paid Sky, so we've been cut off over xmas. Which is a real p*sser as I work for a Saffa bank and was getting stick before xmas. We have to get it from the Internet as even Bloomberg only has the Aussies vs Pakistan stats. James Govan's "Uphill Climb" was also on the on Charley R&B LP "I'm In Need". Can't remember when it came out, but probably mid to late 80's. There was an 80's tunes thread a while ago, think it was started by Gavin (Page).
Guest Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 clutch of these = this kind of music rather than the specific sounds - as I was erring on the helpful side rather than the pedantic
