Especially this time of year. Sheridan "Rip" Spencer, tenor of a multitude of Los Angeles area vocal groups was shot and killed Wednesday, Dec 9th. The Homicide Report The Times chronicles L.A. County homicide victims Compton: Sheridan Spencer, 70 December 15, 2009 | 11:15 am Sheridan Spencer, a 70-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the 1600 block of West Caldwell Street in Compton, authorities said. The shooting occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. in a residential neighborhood, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500. No details have been released due to the ongoing investigation. Rip was a member of the Squires on Vita Records and their many other group names. Sabers/Chavelles/Gents/Valiants/Untouchables/Alley Cats/Happy Tones/Africa from 1955 into the 70's.
