I know that Dusty Springfield did a version and Young Holt Unlimited - Soul Strut is the backing track, but are there any other versions?

Thanks, Sean

Frankie Nieves, a really nice latin version!

Winsome - Am I the same girl ...

Reggae-Soul version.

Ok but not as nice as Charmaine Burnett's rocksteady cut.

Oft covered tune!

All of the above, plus:

Swing Out Sister

Dionne Broomfield

Melissa Morgan

Barbara is the one for me though!

From a tough album - Salena Jones great version:

Came out on 45 with a nice piccy sleeve in Europe (France or Holland - can't remember which)

Many thanks for all the replies, blown away with the wealth of knowledge out there.

P.S. Barbara Acklin still my favourite, outstanding track

THE TERRIBLE FRANKIE NIEVES -

The flip of Chris Columbus 'Tighten Up 70' is a record with the same backing apparently...haven't heard it though.

Agreed 100%

And Salena Jones is over orchestrated, totally Soulless, Jazz, Cheese in comparison.

Pretenders to the throne stand aside!

Allison Durbin does a blue-eyed soul version on her "Soft & Soulful" LP & 45 from 1969. Similar to Dusty's version.

There's a 30 sec clip on the page for her "Best Of" CD if you are curious: here
