Lou D Washington - Smokey - Steeltown, fantastic lyrics, not sure how good vocally it was. I remember it well as it was mine that he borrowed I think, Not dug it out in years, will put up a soundclip over weekend, remind me probably. An old Dave Molloy tip, another very common statement in our NS world. I think someone actually tried to cover it up later.

jocko Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Bloody hell !!!! Quick response , but I expect nothing less from you mate , Cheers , Its a record with great memories, including a drunken day in a Bolton pub with Dave Molloy and Pete Lawson, that still makes me chuckle all those years later. Never used to be that easy to find but suspect not hugely in vogue now,
The Tempest Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 This is the next one on the tape , always a big fave of mine , c/u as Willie G I seem to remember at the time ,

jocko Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 This is the next one on the tape , always a big fave of mine , c/u as Willie G I seem to remember at the time , Bloody hell that is an old tape, that was right at the start of Colin making a name, we brought both records back from a Florida holiday. I kept Smokey but Colin took that one, I came up with the cover up name but sure I came up with some daft long cover up name, Colin would probably never have remembered it when djing. I was amazed how long that stayed relatively unknown given the label. I also covered up Big Maybelle thinking we would get away with in Scotland but Colins first play of it co-incided with a bus coming up from down South, I took pelters for recommending that as a cover up, We were young and foolish is my only excuse, Happy times.

And also at the top of your game !!!! travelling from Falkirk was peanuts listening to your spots , this always reminds me of you , happy days indeed ,
jocko Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Did Colin c/u Hank Hodge - One Way Love as Lou D Washington , sticks in my mind this for some unknown reason I am sure Keb had that first, can't remember what Keb had it covered as. I think we might have found one on that holiday mind. Not sure on that one but reasonably sure it had a few plays before Colin got it.
