All great records there is a but? the rule of thumb on what gets played used to be origanls only with the exception of those djs that were already at the top anyway as they used EMIs Discs & If it came out on a UK label was a sure way to ensure that the records and many more like you have mention are not only cheap but dont get play. as a UK collectore the chubby Checker on a uk isse is far more elusive than the US record and of course the UK demo in this case is triple the issue as UK CP Demo were limeted to and I may be wrong but my unfo says 99 copies thats why they are so rare however the Boogaloo demo is less desirable of the 4 releases that came out although the rarest one to find i think is at the Discotheque Demo but of course the big one "I just dont Know" the genral rule on priceing is as follows if it was a US record that got a UK release the US record is always worth at least half of the UK value and add anouther third+ if its a DEMO, and there are some exceptions, if it is a UK record that was never released in the States and was withdrawn over here then you are onto a winner as most collectores of soul tend to be purists and wamt origanal records not forgn reissues? however the collecting bug for uk records never leaves so dont start to collecting now as most of the records are in the hands of people who are known to one anouther or will be loyal to 1 or 2 main dealers with regular purcheses and this loyalty goes one step further if you sell up the person/dealer will be expecting you to give him first picking i have always found this strange thats whyI mainly collect from many places???

the same apys to the others so unless a uk collector and the best known is Mick Smith even though he hardly plays uk stuff, you have a free licance to play them until a old soul ref tells you not to, the exception to the rule are 3 or 4 UK titles that although rare the US one is rarer and the well known uk exceptions are Dance to the Music on colubia Jimmy Thomas Mister bang man johny whyt demo and so on ? any question ask ? I still think the boogaloo track's the best of his UK releases, but 'tis personal opinion only.

I see a copy of the Roy Thompson on Manships for £45 (wasn't on there last time I looked so I didn't bother this time) so that'd be £25-30 on here? Was this ever a biggie? Think this is a cracking dancer, lovely looking on the Okeh demo too, right storming through a big system.

Still need info on the Clarence Reid though, never seen this mentioned/heard it played out, but nice uptempo 60's?

One of his more obscure releases and definitely worth a spin! Both sides on that Clarence Reid 45 are good in my opinion but have only ever seen it on playlists from "pub" type events.

tHIS IS WHY SOME OF US COLLECT "BRITISH": -the CHUBBY CHECKER is clearly the copy to have? The uk Columbia lable was in the main used for UK artists only, the big exception were the OKeh issues, and there rareity also you will ee te words "SOUL SUPPY" UK45s with this or "DISCOTEQUE 55/7 series" atract UK conpleatest colectors as does the stock and Demo some of the main uk collecter need both? this is a big thing for UK record collectors Demo Copies are always more disirable and over the last 20 years the condition is a big factor the all want mint copies? the RED & WHITE WALTER JACKSON is one of the most wanted of the UK Columbia-OKeh records, I aint going to upset TED and put my value on it but try and by one as again its a trade record for best deal not a cash deal, once again if anyone plays this out it should resemblemy copy however the US copy is also desirable in conparison to your CHUBBY CHECKER?
