Mattbolton Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 (edited) I bet Ady's glad I sent him his copy of Hannibal back that he mistakenly sent me for free! HAHA! Could be the 'comp effect'? Christ i think I 'gave' my Trade Martin away for the £20 it used to be seen EVERYWHERE! Edited December 5, 2009 by mattbolton
paultp Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 (edited) Something doesn't look quite right about the bidding but it is hard to tell as ebay hide the bidders ID's. Both were won by the same person (t***t with 18 feedbacks) who looks like he had large snipes placed. On the Trade Martin the under bidder was a***o (89 feedbacks) who seemed to push the bidding up in the last 15 minutes or so of the auction from $150. He pushed it past l***6 (20 fb) and then 10 bids later (in 10 minutes!) past o***o (109 fb) who had two bids of $250 and $300. Odd for a record that is £30 in the price guides. On the Hannibal the under bidder was our friend o***o (109 fb) who again had two bids of errrr $250 and $300 before t***t struck again with an overbearing snipe. Again, odd for a record that guides at £30. I might have a look at a few other of the sellers completed auctions to see if there is a pattern or I might just go out and have a few beers at York Soul Club and consider if I am just an old cynic or not. It is probably nothing other than a couple or more people in the same area of the world who are both after a couple of records that are getting some plays in that area. Who knows? edit: actually a***o appears on a few of his completed auctions Edited December 5, 2009 by paultp
Nick Soule Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 That has to be the nicest looking e-bay auction page I've ever seen.
Sebastian Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 odd for a record that guides at £30. I think the oddest thing is that the "guide price" for the Hannibal 45 is £30. It's not easy to locate copies of.
Ian Seaman Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 think i have had a work song dj in my sales and on ebay for about £18 for the last few months !!! mad or what, but looks like one of his buddies possibly bidding it up ?? Ian.
Guest Mr T L C Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 It seems like the very same copy of "My Kinda Girl" is up again... https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280467333059&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Benji Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 It seems like the very same copy of "My Kinda Girl" is up again... https://cgi.ebay.com/...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT Don't think so, scans are different...
Sammy Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I agree Sebastian. Not that easy to find copies. And it's a great record as well. A popsike search reveals that it's not the first time that record sells for big money.
pikeys dog Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Really, what´s the difference?!? Check out the scans at the top of the auction pages - they are different copies of the 45... one has paint on the label, the other is clean. Edited February 23, 2010 by pikeys dog

Guest Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Alright, I see why you cannot agree if it's the same label in the two auctions. First off, the auction which has already ended (at $305.00). Link: https://cgi.ebay.com/Hannibal-My-Kinda-Girl-R-B-MOD-SOUL-uptempo-HEAR-45_W0QQitemZ280429747368QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item414aea5ca8 The picture that he has uploaded to ebay in the already finished auction does NOT have the red paint on the label. BUT, in the very same auction, if you go down into the auction description, then the picture displayed DOES have red paint on the label. He used two different pictures in the same auction. If you check the other auction, the one that is running now, then he used the same picture both places: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280467333059&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Investinsoul Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Here is another one that sold back in September with that same weird stain on the label...I am really baffled about this one. Is it possible he had a batch of them and they all had stickers or something on them? https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildatar.php?itemnr=220475266452
Guest Dave Turner Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 The scans show exactly the same stain in every detail. On popsike this same stain shows on a copy from the US. However, it seems like there may be a few stained copies as there is another rougher copy (bottom of list) with an orange stain but different https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=hannibal+my+kinda
Diggin' Dave Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Imo the stain on all those copies was probably a way to show the record was reduced in price back in the day. Same as the yellow paint mark you see more often (or the bb hole which is of course seen even more often).
Kegsy Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Ebay Madness ? I'll tell yu about ebay madnesss !!!!!!!! Loads of records in VG or even VG-, some not even that rare, going for big bucks. Who pays good money for trashed records ? Kegsy
