Guest Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) Some great 45s here and all at prices that won't break the bank....remember it's quality that counts, not rarity or price... I've added refosoul links for each record, but please note most were not recorded by me and the records on this list will play as I have graded them not as they play in refosoul. Prices include postage anywhere and payment to be made promptly by paypal, which I do not charge extra for. Here we go then.....please PM with any questions/orders. Holidays - Watch Out Girl - Golden World Dark, gritty slab of Detroit soul that sounds awesome out loud. Like many of the cheaper GW, Ric-Tics and Revilot stuff it's also an overlooked gem. M- £10....just 2 copies left. Forevers - What Goes Around (Comes Around) - Weis Up tempo 60s dancer with strong female lead vocal backed by an excellent girl group, pushed and prompted all the way by a real stormer of a backing track. Sound good? Well it is and why this has yet to get the plays it deserves I don't know! M- £25 Etta James - Tighten Up Your Own Thing - Cadet From the very first note you just know this is going to be good! Intro full of raw power then Etta kicks in with a gruff, rasping vocal and you're treated to just over 2min 30s of raw funk/soul heaven! M- £15.....one copy left SOLD Major Lance - Do The Tighten Up - Dakar Totally overlooked, yet it's a totally brilliant record! M- £20 Bobby Powell - Do Something For Yourself/It's Getting Late In The Evening - Whit WDJ Superb double sider that was briefly covered up. It's always worth listening to Bobby Powell's releases as they tend to be cheap but quality and this is one of his best. M- slight slow warp, NAP £20 Broadways - You Just Don't Know/Sweet And Heavenly Melody - MGM Classic double sider and looks great on a black label stock copy, pure class on both sides and time to start spinning it again maybe? EX few light marks, close to EX+ £40 Bernard Byers - No Time Too Cry - V-Tone WDJ I love this, RnB dancer with great jazzy influences all combing to make a brill mod dancer. EX £20 Timothy Wilson - Loving You/Pigtails - Buddah Been a lot of talk on here about this one, it's good, very very good! Been some mental prices put on it as well, or maybe I'm mental for selling this pristine copy at this price? M- £40 SOLD pending payment Visitors - I'm In Danger - Dakar Every one of the releases by this group are must own 45s. This one is no exception and if you don't know it then I highly recommend taking a listen. M- £15 SOLD Eddie Ray - Wait A Minute - Quality/ES Previously unissued stormer that seemed to disappear almost as soon as it was put out. M- £20 ON HOLD Southside Movement - Do It To Me/Mono - 20th Century DJ Needs no introduction, this is perfect 70s northern soul. EX+ £40 SOLD Little Royal - (I Want To Be Free) Don't Want Nobody Standing Over Me - Trius I remember Dave Thorley playing this in his set at Lifeline about 9months ago...the dancers danced, record bar chin strokers either nodded knowingly or asked the quick question 'what's this?'. Sounded fantastic and held it's own in terms of quality against other records played that night that have several 0s added on to the price of this little beauty. M- £10 SOLD Ecstasy, Passion & Pain - I Wouldn't Give You Up - Roulette OK, I'd be surprised if any 70s fans didn't know this already. Classic track and if you don't already own one well here's you chance to get a pristine copy at a dirt cheap price. M- £8....1 left Billy Stewart - Crazy 'Bout You Baby - Chess Vocal talent that very few can match, this is one of his lesser known 45s. A slow start which builds gently and then bang we're away. Brilliant crossover style dancer. M- £10 Frederick Knight - When It Ain't Right With My Baby - Juana B side dancer only available on the issue. Beautiful piece of modern soul and set at the perfect tempo for dancers. Mint, got a couple of these and they are mint, unplayed old store stock. £7 General Johnson - Lies/Can't Nobody Love Me Like You Do - Arista The official a side 'Can't Nobody' is a typical up tempo 70s dancer which is well worth the price tag by itself. However the real gem is the largely unknown issue only flip of 'Lies', a beautiful mid-tempo stunner of a track. I listed this a few months back and they flew out to some very discerning buyers, been lucky enough to turn up a few more but be quick! Mint, unplayed store stock with demo sticker on label. £8 Moses - Sweetest Love - Pure Silk Really nice soulful 2 stepper that is certainly worth listening to, the potential on this one is huge. Mint, unplayed store stock. £6 Robert Taylor & Current Stock - Time Keeps Ticking By/Hot Lady - Lu Tall 2 years ago I hit lucky and stumbled across this 45 in quantity...to be exact a 100 count box. Well they are nearly all gone now and I've got just 5 copies left! That alone tells you that this is a record worth buying, the A side is a stunning 70s mid-tempo track with strings, girlie backing...in fact it has everything and the quality of sound and production makes you wonder how much the label must have spent on it. Flip it over and you get treated to my preferred side an uptempo funk dancer of equal quality. Mint, unplayed store stock with slight storage dish. £20 Edited November 29, 2009 by Guest
Reg Scott Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Forevers - What Goes Around (Comes Around) - Weis Up tempo 60s dancer with strong female lead vocal backed by an excellent girl group, pushed and prompted all the way by a real stormer of a backing track. Sound good? Well it is and why this has yet to get the plays it deserves I don't know! M- £25 Major Lance - Do The Tighten Up - Dakar Totally overlooked, yet it's a totally brilliant record! M- £20 These two records are tremendous. Highly recommended! Best..
Baz Atkinson Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 the eddie ray track really is a little gem-someone get it its a tremendous slice of late sixties crossover-tipped this a while back spun it at Burnley it was so well recieved-great record that will have its day imo. BAZ A
Guest Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Eddie Ray is on hold, Visitors sold, just one copy of the Etta James left and 2 Little Royals.....
Guest Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Updated again...Timothy Wilson, Southside Movement, Little Royal and Etta James now all gone. One copy of Ecstasy Passion and Pain left and only 2 copies of the Holidays left. Quite surprised nobody has taken the Forevers or Major Lance though, top class cheapies
Raym Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Holidays - Watch Out Girl - Golden World Dark, gritty slab of Detroit soul that sounds awesome out loud. Like many of the cheaper GW, Ric-Tics and Revilot stuff it's also an overlooked gem. M- £10....just 2 copies left. What a cracking record this one - to me (in a funny kind of way) I sort of wish it were rare/scarce as I am sure it would get a lot more plays out and about! Ray

Ray You're quite right Ray, if this was a £100+ record then it would get played out regularly....but because it's a £10er it is of no interest to majority of DJs!! But it's a top quality Detroit dancer that is far better than many of the 'rare/in demand' records you hear played out every week. Maybe I'll ask Butch to play it, that should put the price and demand up
