Guest Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Most of the old venues as we know , have been pulled down and replaced with either a car park ( The Torch and Clifton Hall to name but two ) or developement , but there must be some that still stand as the original building , but house a business or something similar . I was in the centre of Doncaster today , and passed by the building that once was The Attic . It now is a branch of the retail chain T J Hughes . Long gone for the building is the glory of the night Billy Stewart sang there ..... Malc Burton

Bisley Pavillion all nighter is still held at bisley Pavillion , so it is the same , and as a result , the venue does not house a business or something similar . Sorry for being picky ....... Guest Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) Mojo is a (Mormon) Church? Bradford Queens Hall is a grotty Student venue. Where The Mojo stood is a small block of retirement / OAP flats . I was up there a while ago to take a photograph of the site , and was asked by an old chap who came out of the flats what I was doing . I told him , and asked if he had been around when it was on the go . He said yes , and lived a street away at the time . He said it was a noisy place , and not surprised it got closed down , as it was rumoured that people who went there were smoking marajuana Pricless . In regard to BQH and the others posted above , this is / was the sort of information I wanted , as to what venues have been turned into are now . Malc Burton Edited November 28, 2009 by Malc Burton

These started at noon and finshed at 2 PM ( think it cost 6d to get in ) . It was a rarity for me not to be there on a lunchtime ( I preferred to go to The Old Mecca in my lunch hour , rather than spend it eating or playing cards with the lads I worked with ) , and I was always late back to work , leaving it to the last minute before I left and had to run back to work . Thankfully I only worked nearby on the corner of Boar Lane and Lower Briggate in / at Alexandre's the Tailors . Malc Burton Edited December 3, 2009 by Malc Burton

Excellent : your / those answers are exactly what I was after . It is a minority of the buildings that once housed a NS venue still do so . The majority - like those kindly listed above - of venues that once played host to our music , have sadly long since gone . The venues may have gone , but the spirits still remain in the building if it is still there , or if not , in the air and on the ground where it once stood ...... Guest aintgotit Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Bradford Queens hall, turned into a students glum pub with a bloody great bar area righ in the middle of where the dancefloor used to be, Benons or gatsbys as it was known for a while. i think it burned down, then got turned into offices ,( mind you that is very probably complete bullshit.). Trentham Grdens , levelled. used to be an alldayer in harrogate, just outside the tran station on the left. anybody know what that is now? The sportsman pub in todmorden, scene of some quite anarchic alldayers. still there? The alk of yorkshire , the first alldayer i ever went to . became joe johnsons snooker centre. the q2 centre in birmingham with a bear pit for a dancefloor, Had a dance on there one night with marvin ruffin resplendant in fur hat and red suit .i bet thats gone now. Bretby country club on "geary lane". flattened too i gather. Anybody know what became of clouds night club in edinburgh.
Guest in town Mikey Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Most of the Gloucester venues I used to go to have gone. The Bristol Hotel, and I think the YMCA are still there. Wheelrights and the Roundabout have been levelled in the name of progress. Anyone know if the Marshall Suite is still there at the top end of Stroud? It was derelict last time I passed there, which was probably ten years ago.
