Where'd The Colours Go ?

Sorry if this has been explained on here before, but one that has always puzzled me is why some of the one-Derful ( and similar) labelled 45's are plain yellow without colour in the logo.

I recently heard somebody say they thought they were promo's ? (surely not, I've got wdj's properly marked from this group of labels)

I always assumed they were later presses of a record which had proved popular enough to require a repress, or possibly pressed at a diferent plant ( are they different vinyl? heavier?)

Do soul folk consider them less desirable than the multi coloured ones? should they sell for lesser amounts, or are there specific collectors for this style like there are specific stock RCA collectors for example? Are all releases available as both mono & multi coloured?

I think they might be later presses (I see this a lot on twine time, the biggest seller on the label) but they might not necessarily have been pressed at a later plant, they just might have run out of label blanks and had to do new labels. they might have been done from the same masters plates.

definitely not all releases are available on that plain style, I think mainly only twine time is the one you see a lot in the plain style.

that's not what the OP was referring to though, that's just the promo label, there is a colored label variation of some alvin cash records and maybe some du-ettes records with muted colors, like a bunch of colors missing

Don't think this is a promo, john manship makes no mention of it being a promo just a rarer label. and the original post was asking about plain yellow labels with non coloured logo's so i put up an example.

1. You are right, I misread the original post since the original post clearly says "plain yellow" and I was thinking about the muted colors in some of the records

2. I still think it's a promo, but I have to look at some of my records. It might also be a promo but not explicitly labelled as such.

2: check john manship's site he lists it a as a rarer label, if it was a demo i think he would be the one to know

but i might be wrong again
