Mark Bicknell Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Two Wigan Casino bricks from the home of Northern Soul for sale, both bricks are in nice condition no cement residue, some minor chips and marks but they are around a 100 years old, authentic and original, these bricks are taken from the main entrance area of the Casino, ideal Christmas present for the serious collector, if bricks could tell a story these two must have a million between them, would sit well with all the badges, clocks, mugs and other retro nostaligia collectables, would rather sell as a pair but would consider spliting so two people can reap the joy of owing a bit of history, serious offers for the pair or single bricks welcome. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
Phil Shields Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I RECKON THE LEFT ONES A BOOTLEG BRICK
Mark Bicknell Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 please tell me this is a wind up mark What are you suggesting Trev? look at the bricks carefully and you can almost see the memories flooding out. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
Mark Bicknell Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 I RECKON THE LEFT ONES A BOOTLEG BRICK If you knew your bricks Phil like you do the records then your comment is totally untrue and without foundation infacct although these two bricks are taken from the entrance area of the Casino they are infact taken from the very foundation of the building so they are both original and authentic so there. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
Guest Bearsy Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 They look the wrong shade of red to be originals and they used lime mortar in the days gone by and it looks like there is no lime traces plus they look metric and not imperial but if you could tell me what is written in the frog it could clear up any unceartainty in relation to their aunthenticity
John Parker Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 What are you suggesting Trev? look at the bricks carefully and you can almost see the memories flooding out. Regards - Mark Bicknell. Are these to be sold with a certificate of Authenticity ? Is there any writing on the side of the bricks not shown?
Mark Bicknell Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 You really have to know your subject boys here and trust me that these are original bricks, Nev's a bricky and I'm sure he will confirm that they are two nice bricks. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

As a Leeds Utd fan ..i take offence to that Just a thought Mark ...this post is about to get swamped ,it might be a idea to lock it before it gets to the stage some of the older members might get too hysterical and wet themselves
Jez Jones Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 If no offers are forthcoming Mark--have you considered approaching Manship and put them up for auction. He did a superb job with Frank Wilson. .......while I'm on --I'm sure somewhere I've got a 'Watneys Red Barrel' beer mat from the Sneyd Arms Tunstall circa 1972.....
Trev Thomas Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 i think the originals had a "nashville matrix" stamp in the frog
SteveM Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I remember back in the day when you could get bricks like that of Wickes front page for £1.25. Of course I bought a copy of every brick that was for sale at that price at the time. Also, I'm sure the Mecca laid bricks before the Casino, although my favourite bricks were on the pier at Cleethorpes................................................................................

Mark Bicknell Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 I see Trev has already jumped on the brickwaggon and has offered some house bricks up for sale, please note these bricks have no connection with this sale what so ever, his bricks are common simple house bricks as these two beauties are authentic soul bricks.
