Mick Holdsworth Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Some great tracks there guys (though we seem to have drifted away from the "rare" bit) .. and the "LP" bit (Gail Wynters / 3 Pieces are both 45 as well as LP tracks)
Mick Sway Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 LP only? 42 years and still a learnin folks! Sorry 'bout that. Mick

Guest Paul Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) Sorry for the shameless plug but the RHETTA HUGHES album Re-Light My Fire contained two essential club soul tracks, 'Cry Myself To Sleep' and the Motown-flavoured 'Giving Up My Heartaches', produced by Jo Armstead and Mike Terry and recorded in 1969 at Terra Shirma in Detroit. On March 28th they were released as a 7" single on Shotgun SHOT 107. It's been our fastest seller so far. The first batch sold out within ten days but a second batch will be available from Wednesday... Edited April 10, 2011 by Paul
Steve Foran Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I have not seen BOBBY THURSTON JUST ASK ME MAINLINE mentioned. Sorry if I have missed it. Originally played covered as Major Harris ( I think). I think that IS rare. Thanks Steve Foran Not seen it on 45. Just the Hi-Hut reissue.
Steve Foran Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Should add it is from the "Sweetest Slice of the pie" LP. I think that is it or maybe Sweetest piece of the pie. Got the damm thing but am in the office just now.
Philippe Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) Ben Moore / I've got a winner in you / 'Purified' LP . Great 70's . guest, I have the -excellent- "Purified" LP and "I've got a winner in you" is not on it (???) And it's from '82. Edited April 14, 2011 by Philippe
Bridgesoceity Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Willie Tee LP "Im only a man" (Capitol), track, "Take your time", GEM!
Philippe Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Most definately on th UK DJM issue from 1979 Philippe - last track side one . What label is the 1982 'Purified' that you have on ? It's on US Priority, the same as on the pictures above. Does the DJM pressing have the same track-listing or is it totally dfferent ?
Philippe Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) The 'pictures above' ain't showing Philippe otherwise I'd be able to tell you . ??? You mean you can't see any picture ? I hope that'll work with this link : https://www.discogs.c...release=1512442 Edited April 15, 2011 by Philippe
Richard Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) Philippe, Ben Moore had two LPs called Purified and the tracks on them are nothing alike. The other Purified with I Got A Winner In You was on DJM in the UK and was also released in Brazil on the Young label and was also released under the title Slow Dancin on Roadshow in the States. All very confusing :o) The one on Priority is a very Gospel album isn't it Edited April 15, 2011 by richard
Philippe Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks Richard, that's what I thought. But I didn't know that the English "Purified " was the "US "Slow dancin". I had this LP in the past but I didn't keep it. Yes, the US "Purified" is gospel but only the lyrics. The music is 80's quality Soul. You can get an idea on this link : https://www.cdandlp.com/item/1/0-220206-0-1-0/113737144/ben-moore-purified.html

Guest Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Silly prices on there, I paid more for the postage from NZ than for the record itself.
Kris Holmes Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Is that Dusty LP really NZ/OZ only? I wouldn't have guessed that. I had it filed for ages just for that first track pretty much but decided life is too short to worry about one track LPs which are otherwise weak so I just threw it in the bin. John Paul Jones from Led Zep did the arrangements if I remember right?
Reforee Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Did a name check on this thread and it returned negative so I'm gonna give a big shout out for The California Playboys "Trying to become a Millionaire" on Loadstone. What a cracking album only 6 tracks but if my memory served me right Butch or Sam used to fill the floor with the title track. I still love it to this day 5.48 minutes of quality soul dance heaven. Spun it a few times over the years while out but never had the same effect. Check out Double Love and "she's a real sweet woman " too name a couple more tracks. A quality soul album with rarity thrown in. It's never turned up in quantity or even handfuls, but the title track is a killer. TMIB Edited September 14, 2012 by reforee
