Mick Sway Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 Does anyone know of a CD compilation of LP only tracks issued a few years back? If so Title,Lable and availability would be great! Thanks Mick

Mick Holdsworth Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 It's great and on a Stang 45, total out and out Northern. It is good, but it's not the Moments. I was talking to Des Parker a while back about this one - apparently he reckoned the track was just used to make up a B side for "All I Have" - as to who it actually is, he was less sure, although I think "Springers" may have been mentioned as a possibility. I've never heard the Willie & Mighty Magnificents LP, so it could be the same take - anybody have both to compare ? Cheers Mick Holdsworth
Guest ganesh Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 magnificent men - keep on climbing - brilliant dancer - possibly their best track - certainly sounds soulful rather than blue -eyed soul like some of their others hesitations - soul superman - inc that's what love is (same backing as eddie parker - i'm gone - used to play this at buzzard mandrill - never die

Cheers Mick Holdsworth Just as I thought Mick, reckon it could well be the 'Willie & Mighty Magnificents' track. If it is the 'Springers'....then WOW! I'll have to grab a better listen and then play a Springers tune to compare the vocals.
Guest Ivor Jones Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Dysons Faces is on a 45, only ever seen one copy tho', Bob Cosby's...... Girf Are you sure its "Welcome To All This love again" and not "Working My Way To Something Better" Gareth ? Ive got the second title on 45 and thats the gold label [Dy-Rich]........Just wondered if you might have had one too many at Yarmouth ,[i take it that was where you saw it],and mistaken it for the wrong one Hmmm. Is Bob on this forum ? Best, Ivor

kevinsoulman Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 dunno how rare it is i've just got a wld of this brilliant REUBEN HOWELL - YOU CAN'T STOP A MAN IN LOVE - kev
Guest REVILOT Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 magnificent men - keep on climbing - brilliant dancer - possibly their best track - certainly sounds soulful rather than blue -eyed soul like some of their others I agree a superb dancer Also like their NOBODY TREWATS ME THE WAY YOU DO from THE WORLD OF SOUL LP It was written by Marvin Smith no less.........................................
BigWheelsMainz Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 What about Geraldine Hunt - Gotta give a little love, Uniwave LP "No way"? Found some of the LP tracks on 45 but not this one. Very nice 8t's handclapper very nice thread! will add it to refosoul soon... Cheers Seb
Jerry Hipkiss Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Re the Isleys "My love is your love" mentioned earlier in this thread - check the recent "Motown Anthology" CD which contains the mono version of this, a different take, different instrumentation, different song structure...still good though!
Md Records Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I don't recall thinking the Moments "Hurts On You Baby" was the Springers, I think the confusion there was during the conversation, when I made a comparism with Thaddeus Wale who gave the "collectables" label the tapes for the "Springers" as well as the "Ethics" and how some "Springers" tracks got credited to "The Ethics" on "C.D.'s" Back to the side in question, I haven't got the Album, but the 45, credited to the moments, does not sound like them at all, totally raw, unpolished (right up my strasse, in fact!) maybe the Moments were having a bad hair day in the studio, or the "Willie & Mighty Magnificents" track was thrown on as a "filler" Des Parker
Wrongcrowd Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Hiya Binsy If Bob & Gav want me to do the 'LP only' set again at Yarmouth in April it will be the 4th year on the run! And as usual, I'll make sure that there will be no tracks played from previous years either! Pressure will be on again as at midnight folks have to dance to 'em too! Although I'll have to watch out for the Soul detective's as I got caught out last year with a couple tracks that got released on Outer Mongolian 45's that I wasn't aware of And to round it off, it will be me and you and Bully in the car park at 6.30 a.m. Cheers Steve ....and another thing Plumby.....whilst discussing your LP only tracks set.....Detroit Emeralds - Long Live The King..... is also on UK Phonogram 45... Never seen an Outer Mongolian 45 release though.....
Wrongcrowd Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 in reply to when "my love is your love" got played, seem to remember about the same time as "just loving you" ruby andrews i think , as the tempo and soulful mid tempo become dancefloor, about 93 ,seem to remember it at bretby, winsford at the time, think people realised it was only available on what at the time dodgy mfp 2pound lps ,hope this helps, and i also am a big fan of these lps, regards doog My Love Is Your Love......played it in every set at Bretby back in the day..... ..very surprised to find that not too many people were aware of it at the time...
oldsteve woomble Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I've just read back this thread and am stunned (or summat) about the Dyson's Faces 45.... More info please soul sourcers!?.... Scan please girf!....
oldsteve woomble Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Anyway seeing as I'm here can I chuck Dazzle - You Dazzle me into the pot of loveliness........
Wrongcrowd Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 NO, its actually Bobby Patterson No strictly correct....the Storyteller LP was reissued on CD by Good Time Records in '98, though credited to Bobby Patterson rather than his Bobby Story alter ego...
John Benson Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) ....and another thing Plumby.....whilst discussing your LP only tracks set.....Detroit Emeralds - Long Live The King..... is also on UK Phonogram 45... Never seen an Outer Mongolian 45 release though..... If you're gonna be 'pedantic' - actually it's a 7" but it plays at 33! But I wasn't going to mention it to Steve this time Edited February 20, 2010 by John Benson

Denbo Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 "Richard also talks about another occasion when he reversed his car over his record box (!!!!!) and trashed a copy of the very rare single containing the instrumental version of "What About The Music" - Billy Harner." I'm sure Richard told me once that it was just cracked, how badly, I can't remember. Let's hope it isn't actually "trashed".

NEV Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Sorry for coming to the party so late but these two sides do exist on a 45 Steve are you talking about this one?? I 've often been puzzled by this one when it appears on ebay . Some say it's not legit ,but it always has a lot of bidders and usually goes for a canny few dollars too . I read on one of his discogs that it was released but still baffled to this day ?? If it is legit i've left it alone on the pretence there is too much grey area and i aint paying OTT to be ripped off

Mick Sway Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) Some great tracks have come to light on this thread. try this Swiss Movement "The Grass is Greener", the album comes with the excellent pedigree of David Van dePitt's production. Also check out "come round here" I must say that the Gladys Knight track from Feelin Bluesy escaped me, despite owning it, so soulful: Edited April 7, 2011 by Mick Sway
