pikeys dog Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) I might be alone in this, but I think that this is the worst version of WNTY - in fact I'd go as far to say its over-priced, over-rated bobbins. Edited November 22, 2009 by pikeys dog

If thats so John ...how come you never play it Probably too obvious here but i believ it's same record as Jackey Beaver -lover come back ,who also did a fantastic version of "we're not too young" did he pen this ?? or is camaros the original ?
pikeys dog Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 quite possibly joe, but the other side, "lover come back" , which was the side keb used to play back in the days of stafford, is awesome Therein lies the rub... I was too young to go to Stafford (just), so I never had the pleasure.

Can't play everything Nev.... The Jackie Beavers and the Camaros are the same tracks I believe The Camaros were related to Jackie..??daughters or something like that
Trev Thomas Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Therein lies the rub... I was too young to go to Stafford (just), so I never had the pleasure. get yourself to york soul club on the 5th december & johnny parker will give you the pleasure
NEV Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Can't play everything Nev.... The Jackie Beavers and the Camaros are the same tracks I believe The Camaros were related to Jackie..??daughters or something like that Too true .... was'n having a go mate...just a bit of banter To be honest John(no pun intended) the camaros is my fave version of this incredible tune and for what its worth there's an article on Fenns records that should clear up the price issue And if your gonna play either side on the 5th ....thanks in advance "Strong midtempo Detroit girl group, two great sides. Probably first played by Butch. Arthur's copy was first sold by Butch to Soul Sam who sold it on to Arthur 18 months ago. Tim Brown has just paid 2000 UK Pounds for his copy. There are probably four or five copies in the UK. The flip side was also recorded by Jackie Beavers, "Lover Come Back". Jackie Beavers produced both of the Camaros sides. Nothing is known about the recording group or the label. It's believed that this was the only release on the label."
perux Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 OK WHO WILL SELL ME ONE FO £1300 CASH TODAY
Jumpinjoan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I absolutely love both sides. The Cameros and Sandy Golden go hand in hand for me. I can even remember Butch playing 'Lover Come Back' at an all dayer in Stoke about a million years ago. Might even have been at Bidds - years before the all nighters came about.
Jumpinjoan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Oh, and that lucky rogue John Weston recently got Soul Sam's copy.

Guest cenco Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 we also got the karen stribblin version
Dylan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 OK WHO WILL SELL ME ONE FO £1300 CASH TODAY fair enough I understand you having to increase your offer a bit but just doubling it in such a short space of time is not the best way to go about buying records.
Anoraks Corner Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 The flip side was also recorded by Jackie Beavers, "Lover Come Back". Worth noting that he released two totally different versions...the one sharing the same backing track as the Camaros is on the plain orange label copy..and rare.
Jumpinjoan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) we also got the karen stribblin version Not being funny, but that is the worst version imo. Her voices is like chalk on a blackboard. Or me singing. Truly awful Edited November 23, 2009 by jumpinjoan

Joan, there was an alldayer at Bidds many years ago (maybe not a million, but more like 15 - 20 years or so) and Butch did DJ at it. I was actually involved with running it (with Rob Jones), though Rob Jones was sick on the day and never turned up (neither did many others as it happened! ) Perhaps I should be advertising my 20th Anniversary next Feb on the back of that fact Edited November 23, 2009 by Mace

And Butch definitely played Lover Come Back. I remember because it is only one of two times I have heard it played out. The other time was Rob Marriot. Yes, people were a little thin on the ground. Music was great though. As was the smell of food if I remember rightly
Mace Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) Music was great though. Thankfully, some things never change.... Edited November 23, 2009 by Mace
