ImberBoy Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 3 before 8 Wigan Casino Ooooooh I wish I had been older enough to have gone but sadly I missed all the baggy pants and Brut 33! When some one says to me Wigan Casino I always think of the 3 before 8, if the 3 before 8 were down to me I would have the following: Eddie Holman - This Will Be A Night To Remember (1977) DISCO That's the extended play one not the short version mind! MANDRILL TOO LATE JESSE JAMES If you want a Love affair That's my 3 before 8, I could hear those three on a continuous loop! I love Northernsoul! What's your 3 before 8, you can choose what you like

Guest Scarborosoul Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Mine would be "THE" 3 before 8. There has never been enders like them. As those of us who did frequent Station Rd will testify the created atmospere was fantastic and when the clapping started to Long after tonight is all over it was just amazing, Rick
MikeHinNewJersey Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 This is always a fun game....better played down the pub though:) Barbara Lewis - I Can't Breakaway Elusion - Living On The Verge Of Leaving Baby Washington - Its All Over But The Crying

Guest steve64 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Is this Johnnie Mae sister's version - any chance of a soundfile you can find it on the Kent CD northern souls classiests rarities, thats the best I can do
Freebie Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Mine would be "THE" 3 before 8. There has never been enders like them. As those of us who did frequent Station Rd will testify the created atmospere was fantastic and when the clapping started to Long after tonight is all over it was just amazing, Rick I agree. I asked a question a while ago about the three before eight as to when they were first put together as the end of night finale. Only Mr. Webbydublin replied I think.
Simsy Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Charles Mann - Its all over (Fleet ender) Yeah that's familiar & a good shout! Spot on, spot on & spot on! I don't know anyone who'd be miffed at those three at the end. For me (ingrained from years at the 100 Club) Marva Josie - Don't & 4 Tops - Baby I need your loving. I'd maybe throw in a Dells or Timi Yuro somewhere, maybe..
Ficklefingers Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Johnny Maestro 'I'm Stepping Out Of The Picture' (Scepter) Lee McKinney & Magnetics 'I'll Keep Holding On' (Sable) Jimmy Wallace 'I'll Be Back' (Alpha) Fingers..
Dean Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 i was forunate enough to go to the casino (OLD COW LOL) and the 3 before 8 was an awesome sight imvho but if i had the choice mine would have been come on train ....don thomas al williams ....i am nothing gerrie grainger .....i go to pieces For a short while I go to pieces was the fourth before 8. Have to agree with the sentiment of the emotion of those 3 tho'. Not the best northern soul records by some way but, still think Tobi Legend a perfect ender, happy to be played as the flames lick my coffin.
Guest Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Mine would be "THE" 3 before 8. There has never been enders like them. As those of us who did frequent Station Rd will testify the created atmospere was fantastic and when the clapping started to Long after tonight is all over it was just amazing, Rick There you go, Rick, me and you in total agreement finally on something mate! I can still remember when I first heard TOBI LEGEND (my fave of the 3) at the age of 14, it sounded so beautiful and I can still appreciate the sheer beauty of that record even though it's now on that overplayed records of all time list. No, they are the enders of all-time, without a doubt.
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Jeffy Perry - Love Don't Come No Stronger Eddie Holland - I Like Everything About You Kenny Thomas - Crazy World my perfect 3 and all classics too
Dave Moore Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Is this Johnnie Mae sister's version - any chance of a soundfile I thought it was her daughter? She of Black Nasty fame.
Dave Moore Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Here's my contribution. I like the 'traditional' styled enders as you can see. Ruby Winters - Better Jimmy Beaumont I Never Loved Her Anyway Enchanters - I Paid For The Party (Hitsville's Ender)
Nz Soul Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 ray p its a sad thing four tops just ask the lonely marva josie dont
Ian Parker Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Sorry Parkash, the point of three before whatever is the ender and none of the above are enders ..........ie; its all over, long after tonight is all over, just say goodbye etc. Not fussed to hear the goodnight & goodbye theme, just want a few good tunes before i leave Debbie x
Ian Parker Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) Not if i beat him to it,Debbie! Would you like to tell SS of it's significance to you...or maybe you could PM me? I said to the other gent, i dont really like the goodnight & goodbye theme, its a bit too I just prefer to hear a few good tunes before i go I know i have said it many a time, but the Antellects track is my fav, so i dont mind if its played anytime, but it would be great to have that last dance to that track then i can go home & have some sex! Debbie x Edited November 20, 2009 by parkash
Patto Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 I Think the principle of ender tracks is a VERY traditional and important element of a nighter. Its an emotional come down and closure of the night. You have had all night to dance to the uptempo stormers and there is no better way to leave than a slow dance to a spine- tingling slab of soul Think the casinos 3 before 8 are perfection and will never be beaten, but if i have to choose alternatives i think i'll go for Carl Carlton---You Can't stop a Man in love Betty Lavette---Almost Bessie banks ---Go Now much better than sex, that can wait till sunday afternoon
Ian Parker Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) Im just a 100 mph dancer, & i could dance like that all night, followed by sex for the rest of the night! Sex just on a Sunday afternoon Debbie x Edited November 20, 2009 by parkash

DAVE (Mi AMIGO) KIL. Great post, those days of the Mobile DJ's were great and some real characters. There was one in Southampton who I always remember because he must have been one of the first to get his own jingle made up on an 8 track cassette. A blast of female voices shrieking were then met by a guy's voice proclaiming proudly: 'BY JINGO - IT'S DAVE DINGO!!!!!!!!!!' Fooking priceless but he played good soul!
Harry Crosby Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 allways thought this would fit in well as an ender somewhere or was it maybe?

Premium Stuff Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Which record was reputedly a near-contender for the Wigan 3 before 8 but just didn't make it? A what was the record that beat it into the final 3?
