Have a look at Number 40 on the chart:

I thought the President release was a few years later - so were they playing it from a US copy? And if they were, was another UK company considering issuing it at the time? I was a big BIG L listener around that time but can't recall hearing it then though!

Strange one that Jerry. PT 109 was only released in 1968.

Briles has just posted this on Fontana (Made In Holland) & Licensed from President Records.

Well, the basic answer is President would have the rights to U.K. release in 1966.

A discography for UK President can be found here ...

https://www.45cat.com/label/president

The Johnny Wyatt listing is for October 1966 - although a reissue scan is used in the discography (same as 108 - Viola Wills above it)

Most "Original" Johnny Wyatts for sale are reissues - here's a real one ...

Hope that helps

president started issuing 45s from july 1966 the johnny wyatt from oct 66 on 109 ties in perfectly. things like johnny wyatt. the casinos`, jimmy robins were contemporary releases as was all early president releases. it was only from around 130 at the tail end of 67 that reissues or things that were a couple of years old started to appear. as mick holdsworth says the copy he posts above is the original with horizontal text on the artist. all president releases from 66/67/68 look like this. there is no variation. from 1969 onwards they started wth smaller text and vertical text for the artist right thru the 70s

the original on bronco was cheap until recently now its £50+. it sold well tho as did its 1st issue uk counterpart and this is £40+. the president reissue with vertical text is pretty common tho and should only be a tenner in my opinion but you see this at all sorts of prices but i just think that folks arnt armed with the knowledge. orig usa and uk promo are nice and rare tho

Many Thanks for Information, While I was aware my copy was a Re-Issue,

Suprised to Learn that the Original U.K. President was as early as 1966.

Always Learning something new with collecting.

>>> GETTING MIGHTY CROWDED <<<

There appears to be two President Issues as well as the Fontana Below.

With >>> Getting Mighty Crowded Repromoted as the A Side on President 2nd time. <<<

How much is the original uk promo worth ? i've got one, with the horizontal artist's name and 3 A's stamped in ink on the A side.

Equally as interesting is to note one of their climbers; "Anything That You Do" by Chapter Five - the A- side to "You Can't Mean It"!!

Yes, I noticed that - those Radio London charts are worth looking through, quite a few little gems of trivial info - and as mentioned some time back Tony Blackburn once had the Tiffanies "Got to be a great song" on Chess as his "Disc of the week"!

Exactly. The UK reisssue has been sold for £25 on at least one very prominent UK dealer's list in the last 12 months!thumbsup.gif

Vee-Jay were distributed by Fontana in the UK at the time "Getting Mighty Crowded" was a hit in the US & UK (65).

In 66 Vee-Jay folded and (as it was a big UK hit) in 1968 President reissued GMC with "It's In His Kiss" on the flip.

Johnny Wyatt was a Bronco release and was licensed to Fontana in Holland, but that and other Bronco releases of the time (Viola Wills etc) were released through President in the UK.
