Don't be so precious! If I'm steamed up at a wedding and there's some bunch of geezers hammering out 6os soul covers, I'd rather hear that and shake an embarrassing tail feather than the bloody birdy song or Celine Deon on disc or CD!yes.gif

There was a venue in the 80s where this happened, there was a young white band on, lots of members, doing northern soul covers with everyone dancing. I remember being on a balcony watching. Not sure if it was Bradford or somewhere like that. It was a one-off but it seemed to go down quite well. Anyone able to jog my memory?

I can see that I am up agaist it here rolleyes.gif and completely out of step with everyone . I was talking to a mate who had seen a NS covers band and he loved them , it must be me and old age but the scene for me is record based and anything less just doesnt cut it . Plus I dont like covers / tribute bands yep definatly grumpy old man yes.gif

A less complicated slosh. Come on folks you know you want to . Wonder if they ever did the slosh at the wheel .? :-]

Snake Davis and his band are fantastic. Saw them at King Georges Hall Blackburn but still couldn't bring myself to dance. Have just been used to watching bands and to be honest; deep down would feel awkward getting up.unsure.gif

My auntie taught me it when i was little and she used to go the wheel. Still struggle with it sometimes its pretty complicated. They still do it in the clubs in halifax and bradford . My daughter and her mates are great at it

No one has given you an answer yet mate, you said cover bands, everyone took that to mean live acts, two totally different things. Ah well another SS thread gone to bollox...

Slight difference Webby, Snake's band are top class musos who have backed countless Soul acts, WO were the biggest pile of manufactured shite ever to don star jumpers and baggies! thumbup.gif

I dont enjoy live bands at all

There are some good musicians & good singers out there, but i just get really bored!:thumbsup:

When i was on the Mod scene, they would have a band on for about an hour, & i used to think, please hurry up & get the records back on :wicked:

Last year i used to go & see my partner Ian playing drums in his band & it was ok, but not really my sort of thing, they did the Snake

But i found that i was surrounded by alot of folk that had one too many drinks, who push into you & would really dance to anything!

I just think a covers band would be a nightmare evening for me!
