Ady Croasdell
Was this played as a new release or a "discovery" and if so why in preference to the Detroit Emeralds, is it faster (I ain't got the DEs here to compare). Anyone remember its Northern History? Ta Ady Link to comment Social source share

Anyone remember its Northern History? Ta Ady Hi Ady ,I was only 15 when this was released , but remember playing this at school dinner hours along the other massive record of that year Holland - Dozier " Why can't we be lovers " .Obviously I was a bit innocent record wise at the time , but remember the Damon Shawn quite a bit before Detroit Emeralds version , so was Damon first ? Doesn't differ too much from what I remember , but it was popular all over at the time , whether it got played at The Torch etc would be a question for our older Soul brothers I guess ? Best wishes ,Eddie Link to comment Social source share
Ady Croasdell
Thanks lads. You're dead right Eddie, Damon's came first even though it was written by Abe Tillman. Yes, I always preferred Graham Central for that extra-added whizz. Link to comment Social source share
Becket
Damon Shawn came out five releases before the Detroit Emeralds on UK Janus and the backing vocals are different. I have played this a few times at our Charity Soul do's - not sure the punters noticed any difference though Cheers.......... Tom. Banbury. Link to comment Social source share
