Russoul1 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) hi all, just recieved a 45 from the states via buy it now, have already got the 45, but was cheap so i brought it to trade/sell on the 45 in question; hank johnson - lost love - ten high 102 thought would give it a spin to check condition, and to my suprise the track on the A side was different song which isnt that good so thought flip it over and again same artist but this time a real uptempo detroit dancer, title is i would persume "get a hold of yourself" sounds like a white artist, checked the labels and they are the same hank johnson - lost love 102a on both sides, on checking the runout there is a nashville matrix stamp then the number 103a & 103b on the flip, which would denote a label misspress. the 45 was listed as lost love, so i presume the seller thought it was that track! have tried to find said song but have come up with nothing so far, so can anyone help identify the artist? thanks russ Edited November 24, 2009 by russoul1
Russoul1 Posted November 14, 2009 Author Posted November 14, 2009 sound clips might help! if i could i would! heres the clues; 60s detroit ten high label 103 male vocal - sounds blue eyed song title - get a hold of yourself or stop get a hold of yourself one possibly for the detroit experts/collectors on here

Guest carl_p Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 can't think of another single record on the label aside from jerry walker? but that's a female vocal and the number is way off.
Weingarden Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 can't think of another single record on the label aside from jerry walker? but that's a female vocal and the number is way off. the only other things i know of on the label are the celebrities and the infernos (which has 'lost love' instro on the flip), but this doesn't sound like either of those.

Weingarden Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 i never asked an obvious question: it's not the j.j. barnes song 'get a hold of yourself,' right?
Russoul1 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 i never asked an obvious question: it's not the j.j. barnes song 'get a hold of yourself,' right? no, nothing like it but if it was jj barnes it would be a cracker! as said its a white male artist which is what slightly spoils a cracking tune indeed....
doowopmick Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Think those 'Sideshow' boys BLUE MAGIC did a song 'Stop and get a hold of yourself'. Although Philly not Detroit, Black not white, 70's not 60's............I'll get my coat!
