Pete S Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I'd be interested in what percentage of people listen to soul music as their first tunes of the day, I put radio 5 live on then talk sport, then my ipod on shuffle so most days I probably don't hear a soul tune. Can you only listen to soul music to take part in this forum or something?

Guest Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) I'd be interested in what percentage of people listen to soul music as their first tunes of the day, I put radio 5 live on then talk sport, then my ipod on shuffle so most days I probably don't hear a soul tune. Can you only listen to soul music to take part in this forum or something? Oh come on Pete, that's nitpicking a little isn't it? I mean if you really want to dissect the question minutely, it does not ask people for their first three non-soul tunes, it does not say they should not listen to non-soul, it merely asks what were their first 3 Soul records that day? Now, on a site supposedly dedicated to Soul Music, I would have thought that was a reasonable enough idea? To present a daily diary of the type of stuff people were enjoying on a daily basis? Trouble is, I opened up this one as the second day and most people carried on posting in the first day lol!!! (By the way, wouldn't people who DONT LISTEN TO SOUL MUSIC not find this site a little boring???? ) Anyway, do me a favour mate, please put a post up here explaining how you 'lock' a thread once you've opened it? Cheers. Rich PS HOWARD TATE - Half a man - US VERVE Beautiful aching midtempo gem, one of my all time faves. JOHNNY WYATT - Thing called love - UK PRESIDENT Hippo's latest thread gave me a perfect inspiration or excuse to pull this one down. A1 Northern. AL WILSON - Now I know what love is - UK LIBERTY Never tire of this beauty. Edited November 17, 2009 by chorleysoul

Guest Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 DONT THINK THE NEIGHBOURS WOULD APPRECIATE 3 NORTHERN TOONS AT 5 EVERY MORNING DO YOU BUT ON THE I POD ON ROUTE VARIES FROM DAY TO DAY Its not that rare a phenomenon at our place, but we are blessed with massive, soldily thick concrete walls that do a brilliant job as far as soundproofing goes!

Guest Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 just bought myself one Quality. I paid £10 for mine a few years ago, who needs to spend a grand on a record when you can still buy things as good as this for peanuts!

Guest Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 A lovely, sunny fresh day here, thought I'd have a little lunchtime singalong blast so... Everything's Tuesday - CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD - INVICTUS UK Too commercial for some people maybe, but to me just a bloody great record! People - THE TYMES - UK DIRECTION - Love the way the piano comes in on this, very classy arrangement and production. Oh Happy day - EDWIN HAWKINS - UK BUDDAH Well, I said 'singalaong' and it is sunday - and talking of how pianos come in, wow! Whatever your religous views, this record can still send shivers up your spine, the sheer power of those backing voices, summing up the roots of this fantastic music. I think there are about 50 people good enough to have made a northern soul classic singing on this record!
