When was this recorded? I've heard tell it was '64 which is insane but fantastic, but then apparently the Goldmine 45 says '67 which sounds more plausible.....

Any info greatly appreciated! Thanks!

ps. been to

but it doesn't give a date although it says Sammy's last release was '66....?

Very strange so conflicting suggestions.......i also thought the Prestatyn programme suggested '64? Could anyone confirm that? Thanks for the replies btw.

Not strictly relevant but interesting. I had the jawdropping pleasure of meeting Sammy, Ron and Eddie on Kev Roberts Soul Trip to New York, a couple of years ago. They told me the record was actually cut in Greenwich Village, not New Jersey.

I taped the whole rehearsal of the guys before they did their first live performance of the song since they recorded it. Sammy Campbell was the epitome of a professional. Took him 15/20 mins to have the band, the backing singers, and us eating out of his hand. I watched it with Colin Dilnot and we both looked at each other.....knew we'd witnessed something special.

Then took a photo of the guys with my 45.

A very special afternoon as we also watched The Spellbinders run through their show too. What the SouTrips are all about for us.
