At the risk of sounding utterly moronic, I'm surprised by how often I get asked for Sam Cooke whilst DJing - not at northern soul nights, just general funky mod soul type affairs.

So, just wanted to ask - what Sam Cooke stuff has been played at northern do's over the years. And what should? What's worth investigating on SAR Records?

The only songs i can think of that i would expect to hear at a Northern soul night is

Sugar Dumpling (obvious)

Somebody Have Mercy (Mick Cooper played it and that's when i heard it first time, top bloke too)

Soothe Me

The rest i class as normal general soul and older songs gospel type
