Just out of curiosity!

The acetate from a few months back that was original but parts of the laquer missing!

If the person who bought it had the acetate re-laquered and the Mel britt regrooved into it would it be still an original say like an antique but listed as a damaged repaired.?g.gif

A recent find that was part of a 60's DJ collection is this acetate 45. It has no labels but after some investigation it turned out to be the MEL BRITT monster rare USA northern soul 'FIP' A-side "She'll Come Running Back".

Part of a 60's DJ collection- do you think so? Same as above post says Sam Ambrose on flip would indicate a more recent copy of 2 sides. can't imagine those two sides ending up together any other way. Deceiving description I think.

It's from 75 or early 76.

it has small centre hole which indicates uk

This rule-of-thumb does not indicate a UK press at all. There are plenty of original US acetates that have a small hole.

This example is a scene-made dub as others have already pointed out...and nothing to plan a retirement around!

-ps I have an original Sammy Ambrose on Crazy Horse for sale, if anyone fancies it?!

The real one that went through ebay about eighteen months ago was a thing of great beauty although, as Ernie says above, practically unplayable through missing a great deal of its surface lacquer. A valuable piece of soul music memorabilia I would have thought.

nice bit of soul history, what would that be worthg.gif

can't remember but don't think it was a great deal that it sold for. no sign of it on popsike or collectors frenzy.

So Will anyone answer my question or do I just ask stupid questions?

I repeat- If the owner of the above removed the laquer - had it replaced then had The tracks re-grooved in would it pass as an "original - Damaged repaired / restored" (Say like fine art)

I'm Waiting

Had a nice reply from the seller of this item, thanking me for the info, the advert has now been amended to a fiver starting bid.

All seems genuine to me and no rip off intended imho.

Like Pete S states DEAN in the mid seventies there was hundreds of Emi Disc's done. I purchsed a August & Denean & Jeanette Williams.Bearing in mind a August & Denean can today. fetch upto £250 . But if you obtained them kind of discs in this day and age i'm sure a few on this board would slate you. take care
