The Tempest
Don't know if this one has been covered before but just curious We are all aware of some outstanding records over the years to get played and rightly so to become classics on our scene, namely The Nomads , Soul Set , Judy Hughes , Vivian Carrol , etc etc etc ... We have even had a few blue eyed compilations put together , e.g. Rare Blue Eyed Northern Soul and latetly Northern Soul At The Beach , which are quality albums , BUT do you think a DJ would get away with a full set of white artists in his set at a soul night or a nighter as a bit of something different OR would some folks twig and bombard him with requests from black artists !!! Personally I don't think it matters , I'm a massive fan of the Carolina beach music scene and could easily listen to a whole soul night of it , never mind a spot !!! Whats your views on this one ? Godzilla
On a more serious note check this: You have to start at about 1:30 though. I reckon this version would hold it's own at any soul event - regardless of what they look like. Live too, so these guys can definitely play and sing. Ged Parker
Isn't "The Way Of The Crowd" - Dan Folger blue eyed anyway? I have an Embers album recorded live where they do impersonations of some of the big acts at the time. Including Ray Charles sacking one of his helpers live on stage quite a good likeness and quite funny too. If it's good enough it's black enough simple as that. Guest WPaulVanDyk
I think it wouldn't matter. if it's good they can play it and i think some people will be sad to spot that the whole hour is of white artists. Wouldn'r matter to me, i enjoy all music and love Paul Anka too. Not sure on Cilla Black though that's pushing the boat too far Link to comment Social source share
