Black text on blue background is the second issue (and it mis-credits the title as "You're Number One").

Original white demo has got black text on white background.

Original issue has got dark-blue text on light-blue background.

Here's the White DEMO, made all the harder to acquire as the "B Side" is a Garage Collectible.

Hi Harry

I believe that many of the Arctics were kept on catalogue over a number of years.

Possibly, Pressed to supply demand from Original Plates or Source.

The difficulty sometimes is the correct timeline / order of issue. These two from the 60's.

This one has the same Layout as the White DEMO that I have recently seen, title over two lines.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The STYRENE Copies were from the 70's as I recall & I have always considered them to be 70's Re-Issues from Original Source.

Although when you think about it "Your Number 1" as per the original, is wrong, and the 70's repress saying "You're Number 1" is a correction.

Cheers

While we're on the Arctic subject can someone put up scan/info on "help wanted" please.(apologies Harry)

Unfortunately I haven't a copy of "HELP WANTED" in my collection Yet.

Arctic is one of the labels we're compiling at Hitsville. Arctic_Back.gif

The DEMO Is Single Sided like these two.

How legal were the reissues? I know most have Virtue scratched in but I sort of recall it might have been a liitle bit of a grey area...whistling.gif

Totally legal, done by Bonnie Brenner at jamie/guyden,also reissued anneDeandrea and pookie hudson, billy floyd ,kenny gamble and 3 or four of the volcano's tracks, seem to recall weldon mcdougall & val shiveley having something to do with the reissues

Light blue label/dark blue lettering of "Help Wanted/lady's man",,?

A lot of these re-issues are legal, but are really a specialist product for the UK market (Northern Soul).

They where not re-issued for the USA record buying public.

For that reason there is no demos of the re-issues, because they did not need to promote them!

When they where done in the 70's we just called them pressings along with the bootlegs!

SO NOT A BOOTLEG, BUT BASICALLY SHOULD BE CLASSED AS SUCH.

BRI PINCH.

To quote the MARVELLOWS-I`M SO CONFUSEDohmy.gifohmy.gif if theses were pressed up by the jamie guyden corp, does that not make them a legit re-press? this is where i don`t understand this bootlegg thing, if records were pressed legally then there not a bootlegg are they? i allways thought bootleggs were illegal and had nothing to do with the original company, is that right?,-HARRYthumbup.gif

I'm with you Harry. They are 2nd issues not bootlegs. If you are a collector that concerns yourself with such things then there not original issues but they are legal and legitimate.
