Crumb Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 good wee tune me thinks any info on the record and the man. seen it on atco and northern del-la what a fair price for a minter cheers Don't know much about Calvin Williams, only found out he'd done it last week but also done by Johnnie Mae Matthews on Art & Jam. The backing track was also used on the Platters Going Back To Detroit on UK Pye.
TOAD Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 THE OTHER SIDE AINT TOO SHABBY INFACT A DOUBLE SIDER @£50 ISH
Guest Perception Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 First came out on Northern Del La then picked up for national release by Atco. Both sides are great "It Won't Matter At All being a bit slower than "lonely You'll Be" but both excellent tracks. It used to be about £15 on Atco but copies seam to have dried up and I have seen it go for a lot more.

Guest bazabod_downunder Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Sold a copy of Calvin williams on an mint Atco demo a while back for about $80 if memory serves, intriguing that it was released on JMM's Northern De La label & the credits show 'matthews' as a one of the producers, so was the Calvin Wiliams version the original later covered by JMM or visa versa?...btw top tune & one I wish I'd never let go...amongst many others. KTF Baz johnnie mae matthews also came out on atco
Guest Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 johnnie mae matthews also came out on atco I prefer the JMM version Is is it me or do the releases on JAM & Atco sound slightly different to each other ?

KTF Baz i may be wrong (as usual) but i was informed the issue is rarer than the demo????
Premium Stuff Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I love this tune Have it by Johnnie Mae on Jam, Art and an Atco promo, by Calvin on Northern Del-La, and also have the Platters' Going Back to Detroit on the USA LP and the UK PYE 45 release. Still need Calvin on Atco and Johnnie Mae on the Atco issue. Cheers Richard
Guest bazabod_downunder Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Quite correct. KTF Baz i may be wrong (as usual) but i was informed the issue is rarer than the demo????
