I didn't think it was ever played anywhere, thought it was just a collectors record. Was it definitely played at Stafford? It was on my wants list, Gene R got me my first one, that would be 88-89 maybe a year later, it was £25 then, when I sold it 2 years later I said someone ought to take a gamble on this, I got £60 for it, cut to 5 years later, it's gone to £100, then £200 and so on. I've had 3 issues and 2 demos since, tough record though.

It definitely was played in Scotland at some time in the past. I can remember the playlist for a scottish allnighter printed in Shades of Soul early 90s. Reason why I remember that so well is that ML didn't really fit in with all the US stuff on that playlist.

Nice record, very atmospheric but more quality pop than Northern IMO

I had a copy when it was'nt that well known, swopped a Blue Jays Points Of View(that cost me 35p) i think the deal was with Paul Temple many years ago. regards Gilly and Nicola

Jim Eddleston made it a big northern tune at the 100club.

Yes, and an old mod tune as well. Somebody not that young from Manchester once told me it was played at the Twisted Wheel as well back in the day.

He's dreaming.

Steve Smith played it at every opportunity during the 80's....Stafford, Bretby, in fact anywhere he was let loose behind the decks...yes.gif

Just Love this record , but curious about who discovered / played it first ? First heard it at Stafford , BUT was that the first venue it was played or last year at Wigan ? g.gif

When did the boot appear? I recall the B side had some appeal

Yep definetly played at Stafford , tape is from 16/03/85 , track listing attached thumbsup.gif

MY LITTLE RED BOOK BURT BACHARACH !!!!!!!!!

I left northern soulin the late 70s and got into jazz and all the other stuff (rare groove, easy ,blue note etc.)

I had this album I seem to recall the vocalist was a "hero"

Did it ever go?

Garry Churm found a Parlaphone demo which he carried about in his sales box at Wigan casino- dont think he ever sold it-so he may still have it --any clues Attic Boys /

Rob

Not quite an Attic boy, but I don't think Garry's got that anymore Rob.

Had this on tape 84/85.

Mate got an ex demo at a bootsale 2/3 years back - 50p. Bastard.

Edwin

Remember the same tape, got a demo copy around the same time off Ade for £30.

Great record and seemed to still be a collectors record at the time, until Steve kept pushing it.

Steve still have the tapes that you did, some great semi-knowns / unknowns.

Garry's very much an Attic Boy Ian - unless you know something i don'twink.gif .Haa..just read it again,,,,thumbsup.gif

Garry's got a Mark Lloyd issue,(anyone mention the other side getting plays?),and his sales box now contains quite a few Ken Dodd & Diddymen (pic sleeve) 45's.

As you can imagine,he's moved on since the Parlophone demo's. laugh.gif

No sorry mate, meant I wasn't/not yet an Attic boy..:(

Surprised GC still has that - Jealous.. Believe you about Ken Dodd :)

Sorry for off topic-ness. Mark Loyd still a quality sound and still a regular spin for Mick Smith @ the 100 Club.
