Alison H Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I would have said Evie Sands but after taking the "Picture me gone" challenge at home in front of my laptop I have to say that, for me, Diane Brooks is a lovely version - so I've changed my vote to Diane Brooks .... Hope she gets through to the next round!! ATB Ali x
Alison H Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Sounds good live https://www.dailymoti...gone-live_music I agree it is good live by MB but I've already cast my vote. I've got a feeling Diane Brooks wont come out top after seeing your live clip but its ok cos I'm used to being in the minority ATB Ali x
Guest Matt Male Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I like Diane Brooks but i can't get Madeline out of my head when i hear other versions, which i suppose must mean madeline gets my vote.

She'd be in double minus figures by now

Cover-up Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 (edited) It's got to be the Evie Sands ORIGINAL every time, hands down, and couldn't believe Madeline Bell looked like the favourite. Evie Sands has so much more urgency, passion and dynamics - from the pleading chorus to the false fade out. I listened to all the clips to make sure my ears weren't deceiving me to find... ...that the Evie Sands clip is some crappy Ian Levine style 90s re-recording - utterly dismal. Listening again, I'm 99% certain it IS Ian Levine on production "duties". Every time I hear that rubbish Motown sampled drum fill he insists on using on EVERY track EVERY eight bars I feel like punching a hole in my computer screen. Ugh! Here's the REAL Evie Sands version: Time to re-cast those votes I think. Pretty much every song Evie cut, someone went on to have greater success with a cover. "Take Me For A Little While" (recorded when she was 14), "I Can't Let Go", "Angel Of The Morning" - all superb. Edited October 19, 2009 by cover-up
