Sequins - A Case Of Love (Soundclip From Refosoul Archive)

Matrix Stamp BOTH Sides

RENFRO_112.gif ORIGINAL With Delta# 60757

RENFRO_218.gif Re-Issue With Delta # 60757

There are others, this one was from the same plates

& BOTH have Matrix Stamp & Delta # 60757 on the CASE OF LOVE - SEQUINS SIDE.

Obviously have different B'Sides, the Re-Issue has the Instrumental.

(Instrumental Side has Delta # 99846).

Thanks for that. So the one with the instr on the flip IS a legal re-issue. Came across the above the other day for a very reasonable price and was even more confused when looking on Manship and saw a variety of 'emunsure.gif

Was the Sequins--he's a Flirt booted on a brown Renfro--seen one of them as well on me travelsbiggrin.gif

Anyway thanks for the above info mate

Hi Jez

No Problem Mate, Sharing Information & Thoughts Regarding Matrix Details etc

Is what this part of the Forum is all about.

Any question about such, between us we always do our best to address.

Regarding "The Sequins - A Case Of Love / Anthony C", As far as I'm aware, these were Re-Issued from Source, hence Same Deadwax/Plate.

Unless obtained by other some other means, I can only assume Re-Issue.

Not 100% Sure with "He's A Flirt", I think that the same plates may have also been used on one of them, but there's a couple of different ones out there, I haven't seen either close enough to check.

For what it's worth, my copy of "He's a flirt" had a really nice version of "That boy" (same as Carl Henderson) on the flip. You can spot a Renfro original from the 60's a mile off though. Wasn't it bootlegged on red/black Soultown as well?

best,

RB

Anyone got any definitive info on the Intr version:

Renfro Orch - Case Of Love - Single sided WHITE DEMO R-127

Hi Dave

Intriguing.

The very number on the Re Issue R-127-A, Delta # 99846 would place it in the 70s.

However, the number on that side only, the other side has 218-A.

Not heard of the Single Sided DEMO before.

The Re Issue therefore to my way of thinking, also hints at a possible earlier but shelved release within the Renfro catalogue.

Hi Roger,

I have the single sided White Demo of the 127 release. Unfortunately I am not with my 45s so can't shed any light on any deadwax details until December but I'm pretty sure it 'feels' right. It's the only W/Demo of any Renfro release I've ever seen. Certainly a puzzler for sure. Once I get home I'll post the deadwax details and see if we can get a definitive answer on it.

Here's a pic of mine. I was advised by JM that it was a 70's boot!

It would certainly lend itself to being a boot just due to the fact that there are no other W/Demos on the label. Any deadwax details that might date it? Is there any other way to own the instr apart from this particular 45?

Must admit, I'm crap at this bootleg stuff.

A mate of mine bought this off one of the imfamous Sousan lists that appeared in 76 selling instrumentals of well known vocals & vocals to well known instrumentals ,( like that awful vocal to Afternoon Of The Rhino ) . Kenny Smith on Gold Spot was on one of the lists too along with The Jades on Ree ..............A whole can of worms really as some seem to be genuine (Kenny Smith ) , some boots (The Jades) ,some tailor mades ( Dreaming Up A Fantasy ) . I was told at some point in the distant past that A Case of Love was a legal tailor made done with Anthony C Renfro's co-operation which would explain the Delta number (?)

Bought it off my mate for a quid back in the day BTW & still have it !

AHA!

Thanks Martyn, I also suspect that it was done as a collaboration with Mr Renfro. I'm sure there's the full tale somewhere. I'd been searching for a copy of this for quite a while so I suspect there aren't too many 'survivors'. I also believe this is the oNLY way to own the backing track. (Unless someone knows another?)

Hi Dave , would suspect that its quite rare in its own right , the scan on this page is the first I've seen other than my own copy ,though I think I saw one listed for sale on here a few years back without a scan (?) . I 've had mine so long now Im quite attatched to it ,even if it is a bit dodgy !
