Yeah someone was on about how difficult it was to get a melvin davis - Find A Quiet Place original and I said I used to have one long ago, and I don't think anyone believed me, until Ted Massey posted up a photo of his copy and on the B side it said "Pete Smith 1978" or words to that effect.

Late 70's - a mate's parents off to Florida on their holidays.. Given a very sort list of artists with the request that - should they get any time and if not an inconvenience and happen to find anything by the artists listed - would they mind 'picking them up'.

Needless to say they didn't spend hours trudging through thrift stores, or the like, and come back with two records.. But - 'Hope you don't mind' being their apologetic offering for not bringing back crate's full of vinyl - it was the SAME record (two copies)..

Willie Hutch 'Love Runs Out' (Dunhill) 'ISSUES' !! And this at a time when it wasn't even realised it got issued !!

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEESULT, or what !!

Fast forward to 2007 - Bidds 'niter - Bought one of them back - for a lot more than the £200 it was sold for 30 years previous, though !!

New thread: pictures of records with pete s written on them, i think i have 1 or 2

Now those are rare because I very rarely wrote my name on records after about 1975, before that my name was on both labels and scratched into the run offs, we had some theiving bastards at our parties round here

In a previous job, I used to be a sparky, I was rewiring a house in Cleethorpes for a mate who was converting them in to flats, gets up into the loft and i found a load of old boxes, not uncomon, looked in one and found my old copy of Gerri Granger I go to picies on casino classic complete wih the my white carboard sleve with my hand writing on it, now that was a very spooky feeling when that happed, the chances of me finding it in that house must be low at the least needless to say its now back with me and its staying here, it was meant to be

think you should do the lotterythumbup.gif think you would have more chance of winning it than finding a record in a random house like that

The records I have always regretted selling are tunes which I could never afford to buy again to rebound back to me... More annoying are the ones I sold to mates who promised to give me first refusal on buying back again if they sold on but then went on to suffer from a convenient memory loss.........

I bought a copy of Azie Mortimer - You can't take it away (In an Okeh purple paper sleeve). In the record bar at The Casino, circa '76/'77.

I wrote my name on the sleeve, seen as the record wasn't very rare.

Years later, when I was more flush (about 86/87/88) I bought a Seven Souls from a dealer.

When it arrived in the post, I was amazed to see it was in my old Azie Mortimer paper sleeve !!!!!
