Corbett80 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 There was another record on this label that was pretty good early seventies funky crossover by a group that went on ebay yesterday. Where is the label from, Detroit?

Wrongcrowd Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 IT WAS THE SOUL IMPRESSIONS THAT SOLD ON EBAY YESTERDAY CLIFF Missed that one.....I was lurking on the Pam Bowie...
Dylan Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 must be a few aquarius labels as there is also the carolinas one with reggie saddler.
Steve G Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 This Aquarius from Detroit - Soul Impressions is excellent an old Yarmouth saturday afternoon spin. As for the domestic Five - killer deep soul - my copy is battered and virtually unplayable it clicks and pops all the way through, and guess who the lead vocalist is?. Think there are at least four other aquarius labels, Chicago, Va, and a couple of really obscure ones. Steve
Louise Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Hi Steve The Domestic 5 lead singer possibly hinting at James Lately Steve, well he was the writer. He also wrote the Calvin Golden 45 on the same label. This Aquarius label was out of the Highland Park area of Michigan. Hi Cliff As for Pam Bowie if memory serves me right, she was a one time girlfriend of Ric Williams who also wrote He's All I Need/Everlasting Love. My first copy of this 45 was autograghed by Pam who gave this to a friend of mine's wife in the states. Pam also wrote a dedication to my friends wife, "To A Real Live Doll, Walkin' Talkin' etc which dates Pam's release to around the time of Cliff's( that Richard not Steele) NoI Hit "Living Doll" I was told that Pam was either a school teacher at the time or went onto be come one later. The Domestic 5 in mint condition nice, most of the recent copies that have turned up have been shagged. Dave W
Steve G Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Dave you haven't seen a shagged copy of this record until you see mine. Got it off of Ady Pierce years ago at Victoria record fair and he only charged me a £5. Yes that shagged....makes the Lester Tipton on ebay look mint
Garethx Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 If memory serves John Manship auctioned a reasonable copy of the Domestic Five for a bit less than this earlier in the year. I would agree with the theory that James Lately could be the lead voice. A good record.
George M Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Ultimate Ovation - Hello Baby on the same Aquarius label is also pretty good, if not quite in the same category as the Domestic Five or Soul In-Pressions. Does anyone know if there are any more than the four releases mentioned so far?
Sleeps45 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Strangely sounds familiar - C'mon Steve, the suspense is killing me PAID AND ARM AND A LEG FOR THIS ONE AND ITS A WEAK VG TAKE A LISTEN ..CLICK ON LINK BELOW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvhRLa49hcw
Paul-s Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 The Domestic 5 in mint condition nice, most of the recent copies that have turned up have been shagged. Dave W This is a minter and in beautiful condition...gtreat info about James Lately etc..
